I have tested this and can confirm you don't lose them. Same goes for GC seals. I'm Rank 19 with the Flames and 14 with Gridania.
Yup, you dont lost rank, I've went switch to maelstrom to grinding again when i got rank 30 adder awhile ago, and went back when they released rank 40, my rank 30 was still there.
Only those who try will become.

saw this coming, don't really know how you couldnt have seen this coming. the whole idea of this thing since day one was grand companies fighting it out.
Can't see them letting Rank carry over, since that would mess with Achievements.
Honestly, they should just kill the grind. Rank 1 to Rank 40 should be no harder than Level 1 to Level 50.
It does suck that they only reason they're doing this is for a plot point, though. Would have been nice if there were some mechanics to back it up. Kind of hard with it being an instance though, could always throw in some Grand Company specific PvP actions, always bothered me that PvP actions are split into 3 tabs for each Grand Company, yet they're all identical... Oh wait, we have to have a level play field... Meh...
I guess they could always turn Carteneau into a Conquest style feature, even if it is instanced... Would probably have to be done in a fairly round about sort of way, but they could work it so each servers Grand Companies vie for control of the region, and the winners just transfer that victory to their server when they exit the instance, and then it just gets tallied weekly. That would at least give some sense that there is a reason for them working it like this, though I imagine most will still be displeased with it.

You know what you lose when you change ur GC?
All rank pvp are losing... So you can't play with ur friends or you can't play with ur stuff in arena !
Great choice, you are boring

I think it's very strange to not include morale in frontlines. People who actually enjoy PVP and have been working hard to get PVP gear are getting shafted by this (that is, actual people who worked for it, not people who win traded 90% of the time). I'll live with it though.
As for the GC thing, they basically said this for ages. The very first time frontlines was brought up they said it would be based on GCs. Every other time since then they have said it would be based on GCs. PVP released in December, all ranks based on GCs. Should have been common sense. Oh well, not all people actually bother to research or think about this stuff, so at least you have the opportunity to switch GCs. Most MMOs with factions, upon choosing a faction, you are permanently locked into that faction and cannot ever change. Simply organize with friends which GC you want to be a part of before 2.3 comes out.
It's pretty stupid that PvE gear is better in Frontlines than PvP because PvP gear only has a single secondary stat, even though it's a PvP area. Makes no sense, just shows how irrelevant PvP is in FFXIV.
Just poor design choices on part of the development team. Moving the goalposts on the treadmill with glorified glamor equipment and cosmetic mounts instead of meaningful progression, PvP gear that you PvP to obtain being worthless in a PvP-enabled duty, rank/gear gaps with "queuing restrictions" placed over them like bandages which skyrocket queue times, how wildly disorganized the class system has become in regards to both queuing (forced party compositions) and balance (tanks masquerading as a second MDPS) - the list goes on.
It seems they will be perpetually playing the mechanic as they churn out new, unfinished venues with no forethought.
Frontlines is for players new to PvP and casual PvP players so if they made the morale stat count in frontlines players that already soured on Wolves Den won't play Frontlines
