Returning player in need of some catching up!

    Hi Guys,

I've just resubbed to the game after taken a few months off, I stopped playing just before the introduction of the pvp patch. So I've come across a few surprises having just logged back in for the first time since then. Revenant's Toil (or how ever you spell it) is completely different and I've noticed you can't buy DL anymore? Philo-tomes have been replaced by Myths and there's a new currency, Soldier-tombs.

Just wondering if some kind peeps could run through some of the changes for me? I assume people strive for their class relic instead of DL now seeing as tomes for it are now easier to get and the Soldier tomb bought gear is the new strive for (between running Coil runs etc) for EG content?

Anything else I should know about O_O?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to playing again!

well you can find darklight in the latest set of hard mode dungeons. Hard mode brayflox and halatali, as well as in city of amdapore. The first binding coil of bahamut and the lyberynth of the ancients you can run to your hearts content as well as the binding coil being given an echo buff, so it should be very farmable. Leviathan was added, as well as king moggle mog extreme, fight before that has echo buff, but in theory you'll most likely only see the echo buff pop up on titan/titan extreme. I just woke up, but that should give the gist. Also you can dye darklight, there's the glamor systems, so vanity is in.

EDIT: Also you can further upgrade your relic weapon if you you're the sort that likes grinding, but the relic upgrade is entirely optional since there are other weapons that are easier to obtain that are just as good.

Thanks buddy, I had forgotten about one or two of those things. I've tried to keep on to of the patch notes at least but life gets busy. So you can upgrade Relics to +2 now then? That's pretty sweet, I'll look into that. Thanks for the info buddy.

no problem, well it's more that you can upgrade it to something like +3 or 4, or something along those lines right now. It is a very long term process if you spread out the grind instead of going all out on it.

Probably a spoiler, but at least you'll be prepared. Well, it isn't as simple as "Relics to +2"...and it probably isn't something you want to hear. lol The next phase requires you to get 12 items from 12 different zones (farmable by fates and reliant on RNG) then 1500 myth on 9 books with various activities inside. After that you need to infuse a scroll with 75 materia, starting with grade 1s and working your way up to 4s, along with farming Alexandrites which you can either obtain from fates like the items before, or you can get a daily quest to get a treasure map which offers a bit of a challenge if you're undergeared. Monster Hunts are coming in 2.3 though which will offer another option to farm Alexandrites.

*TL/DR, you have a ways to go. As someone above said you're probably better off spreading it out and not driving yourself nuts trying to get it done fast.

No problem! From what I've heard of XI's relic grind this is a simple walk in the park. I played XI for awhile but never really touched it. (Had my base weapon with no stats on it though from a random Dynamis I participated in, but beyond that I never bothered) It's not really too difficult in XIV, just time consuming. Somewhat mind-numbing at points, though. To me it has been fun but I love grinds/time sinks. :P

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.
