This is probably the most annoying thing I've dealt with in the FF XIV community. When people queue into Expert mode duty finder, they start needing on gear they don't actually need, and justify it by saying they need seals.

The problem with this is---the rest of us need seals as well, and people need gear for their other classes. It's completely wrong that people with an i90+ item in a specific slot can come in and need on an i70 item. My suggestion is to disable the Need option for them if what they are wearing in that gear slot is higher than the item they are rolling for. They should Greed with the rest of us because they don't have a need for the actual gear, they have want the seals they can get from exchanging it. Again---the rest of us want the seals as well. An easy solution would be to do what they do and need on the gear that drops for my class that I have no actual need for, but that is completely unfair to everyone else in the dungeon.

although I agree fully, I doubt it would happen. Too much development work, and after that, people will still find a way to be greedy noobs.

I have Ilv.90 gear as Tank and i do lot Need on gear of lower Ilevel... becuz i actually need it, as OP state, i use it for GC seals, thats my reason, if you really did NEED tanking gear you should be the Tank and you should get it without troubles, so whats the problem here?

Ok lets say im a DPS MNK in full Ilv.90 gear and you are a Ilv.45 MNK , we both cast lot NEED on a Ilv.50 armor, it seems fair to me in the way we both can cast NEED on it, leave it to luck who of us get it.

Your reasons and my reasons for need it can be diferent, be it to wear it, collect gear for glamour or to sell for GC seals or w/e else, the point is we both need it, if a person NEED it instead GREED it is becuz is doing the instance as such class and this allow him to NEED it for wathever reasons it be, this is fair enough.

An analogy to this be, "what you need money for?", so a person who is rich and worked hard to earn his money has no right to it when compared to a Poor person?

The problem with this is that the game has to be fair. You are getting an immediate use out of the gear by DISCARDING it for seals as opposed to getting an immediate use out of the gear by EQUIPPING it. It's not fair to people who are trying to gear up because they are competing with people who don't actually need this gear. In fact---you're discarding it for seals. You can greed on it with the rest of us. I'm so sorry that you don't want to compete with 3 other people for a roll. The rest of us also "need" seals and we don't resort to needing on things we don't actually need.

If the end result is going to be seals, then why shouldn't everyone be able to need on every piece of gear that drops? Obviously---the Need system wasn't designed for people to need on seals, it was meant for people to roll Need on gear so their character can become stronger in their respective class.

I only greed on gear I need for seals and I have noticed most others do as well. If I can that way gain a piece of gear for some of my other jobs I'm working on then great if not no big deal.

If they had other ways to get ventures than with company seals or levequests (if you have all classes 50 levequests are pointless) then I wouldn't roll on those gear. Finished all beastman quests until next patch too.

I think it would be fair if I could only greed on something instead of being able to need if I'm already wearing better gear.
I also need when I can, though when I see another person could really need it more than me I'll pass.

If I actually don't NEED it anymore I wouldn't have a problem if I could only GREED.
It would be even more fair in 8 man parties.
For example there are two Scholars in let's say Garuda Hard or so. One already has an ilvl 115 weapon, the other one is doing it for their relic and only has the ilvl 55 GC weapon. Yes, the better geared SCH could need it for glamours or GC seals, but wouldn't it be unfair for him to need that item the other SCH could need so, so, so much more?
Yes, the better geared SCH probably needs it for seals, but seriously, there are so many other things you can need on in all the duties you run, if you see someone else really, really needs that piece of gear I think it'd be unfair for you to still need.

Also you already get so many GC seals from other gear and from FATES etc. that you shouldn't be dependant on a handful of gear another player could need. Actually you have to look out that you don't get too many seals or you won't be able to receive them anymore. xD

Most of the time it's for GC Seals, on some occasions it's for Glamour.
