Think about playing paladin back in ffxi, you reserved your mp for flash and cure IV mostly. Ok, now think if you have to waste 20-30 mp every time you do a double attack. In the end, without a way to get refresh, you will not have enough for flash and cure IV and you will lose hate and get your mages killed if you don't die first.
but I did log in so I don't see your point. Also, this is just the first step towards making the actual battle system. This is the foundation. Yoshida, the community reps and the devs have stressed this as much as they could, THIS IS NOT HOW THE BATTLE SYSTEM WILL REMAIN. I'm sorry, but if people are seriously thinking of quitting because the MP cost is too high for them, currently, in an unfinished battle system, then they need to grow up...
