Need help with World/Server to pick!

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this game and pretty overwhelmed with how many worlds there are to choose from. I'm looking for one that's well populated and has peak times for West Coast North America with a good sense of community Especially people willing to just randomly party for normal questing in the lower levels.

I saw from several sites that Exodus is the most populated, yet I didn't see too many people last night when I rolled my first character. I also see that it has pretty low forum activity here.

Can anyone shed some light on world information and what "personas" certain ones may have with them? I'm definitely open to rerolling and switching servers depending on the info. Thanks!

Welcome to FFXIV! I can only write about my experience and my opinions. Lots of players are already level50, so there will not be lots of low level players. And the players that are leveling another class will already have either friends or partners in the low levels. Sadly, leveling up in this game is so easy, you can level up via solo means with any class. Still though, remember you can always go into fates where many go for exp. Also dungeons, but if you are a DPS class, you will have a long queue time sadly.

Im from Ultros, activated my account from a 3-4months hiatus, and playing to catch up on story and such. Im only casual so I go at my own personal pace. Try to be friendly even if you find surrounded by not so friendly players who will try to get you down via their playing preferenses.

If you want to hop on in Ultros I'll gladly help if I am able to : 3. But like I said, atm trying to catch up on missing story and dungeons hehe. Hope you enjoy the game!

I always invite new people to malboro I enjoy playing and helping new people. I am pretty sure its an EST server but I am not too sure. There are always people leveling and a lot of FC that are leveling companies.

If you are interested, Leviathan has a few LS and FCs that were started at launch to help new players finish low-level dungeons, learn the game, and network in to endgame FCs. Some activities have become less necessary with the addition of the roulettes and other aids for lowbies, but the original purpose of the community is still going strong.

I've included a link to the original linkshell and the free company that spun off from it. Feel free to take a look. Contact any of the leaders if you wish to join. Most are online either in the afternoon or evenings.

As for Leviathan server, there are usually 8-13 partyfinder groups during the weekday, most of it focused on endgame content (trial ex and coil t5+). There's a very small rp community that's revived starting from last week too. Overall, there are more nice players than rude, but you still see the usual internet comments and lukewarm flame wars from time to time. Especially later in the week when players have capped everything. In terms of timezone, it's a mix of EST and PST, with the peak login times from 5pm to 9pm PST. Naturally, weekends tend to spread those hours even more.

I'm on Brynhildr and have been playing for about two months now. Though I haven't looked into it specifically, from what I've seen just going around to different places, there seems to be a good balance of people at all levels. It is one of the newer servers (but there are a lot of people on it and I see new people every day), so you shouldn't have any problem with activity being dead until end game like on some of the older ones (from what I've read of personal accounts on this forum). There are lots of free companies and most are open to people of any skill level and state of game progression. My fc of about 230 members mostly has people with at least one class at level 50 (many have several or even all at 50), but will often do lower level stuff with others if they ask, and are very helpful in general. A lot of them are west coast time zone, especially in California.

Also, I wouldn't base server activity on activity on this forum. I can't imagine most people would bother with joining here, let alone posting regularly. As active as I've seen my server, I have barely noticed anyone from it on here.

If you decide to start a character on Brynhildr, let me know and I can recommend you to join my free company once you unlock the ability to do so. The xp bonuses are nice to have, even if you aren't actively doing stuff with other members.

The login system is a little strange. I would recommend making a character in the off-hours. Many players have circumvented that server limit problem by making their character in the morning (as opposed to peak on-times in the afternoon). I'm not quite sure how it works, but it does.
