    Current Class/Job System Curiosities

So, it's been hinted at the fact that existing classes will have new jobs added to them at some point, sort of like how Arcanist splits to Scholar and Summoner at present. I like this idea, and don't know why it wasn't done in the first place. Well, besides the need to get the game out and played so that they didn't lose any money, perhaps.

My only question is this: How will they implement it? I'm not talking about a second tier of jobs above the existing ones, I'm talking about brand new jobs that come off of base classes. Having jobs share levels with their base classes seems to have completely ruined the ability to add new jobs later, because people would just suddenly be able to be at max-level in the new job.

For instance, let's say that Dark Knight is added and that its base classes are Marauder 30/Thaumaturge 15. If you're already level 50 in all your classes/jobs, then when you go do the job quest for Dark Knight, you're instantly a level 50 Dark Knight. Go do your other job quests and BAM, content finished in a couple hours.\

IMHO, classes and jobs should have been completely separate, for leveling purposes. It's too late to change it, now, but I am curious to know how they're going to handle this in the future. Any ideas from the peanut gallery?

Hi. I also think that this should have been like you say.... And I wouldn't mind if Square Enix fix it with one of the followings:

    - Everyone that already has 50 have the job 50 but the class 30.
    - Everyone that already has 50 have the class 50, but the job 30.

Any of those two... I wouldn't mind...

But I love to level a lot of classes and in my opinion... If a new job will only give me a new thing to gear, not anew thing to level up... IT's not the same, damn..

(In the case that classes would be 30 and jobs 50, I doubt anyone would have an argue... Because I doubt they'll level up the class, having in mind how useless they are.)
(In the case that jobs would be 30 and classes 50... More fun for someone!... I for example want to level up scholar and summoner at same, together with other 5 classes... But it's not the same, maybe the other classes are 2 dungeons for level up, so use them 2... But Sch 1, Smn 1...And it is not really difficult level up from 30 to 50 anyway...)

Could be something of a level cap increase? Ermm... example only: Conjurer > White Mage levelled to 50 > Archmage (example continuation) level cap level 65, gaining abiilties through 50 > 65. Shrug, the option is there. SE really wants to add new jobs, they'll figure it out.

In my opinion, secondary Jobs should come alongside a Merit type system. That would mean that, even if you have Warrior at 50, for example, if they release Dark Knight off Marauder you would still have leveling to do on the Job.

They could make it "fix" Bard, as well. Let it alter existing Class Skills, lets say Merits on Bard allow you to change Bloodletter so it restores MP, or change Raging Strikes to a Song that increases party members Attack. Meanwhile Ranger, coming off Archer as well, could have Merits that change Swiftsong into something which combos off Heavy Shot. Scholar could turn Virus into a buff which eats an enfeebling spell before it lands. Lots they could do with such a system.

While people might hate this, I think it should also go alongside having to pick attributes; so you can give Bard more Songs, but then Ranger misses out on such Merits. I enjoy Scholar and Summoner, so I'd definitely hate it, but it's better than them half-assing the concept of branching Jobs. Would be nice for individuals to be different rather than every Job being exactly the same.

    Heya TheRogueX ^^

I speak for myself, I just love to start from scratch and lvl up classes to unlock jobs. You might be right about new jobs will automatically be max lvl.

So for them, before the cap raised to 60, I do pray they will fill up the missing links, so we could take at least all of them and lvl them up to 60.

I have all Jobs unlocked and capped. Fates and fates and some dungeons (now they give better XP), I tend to believe those like me worked hard to get to that point (Legacy players, you don't count, for 2.0 at least - I admit you worked hard in 1.0 )

So in a sense it's fair to get the new job 'ready' because of the class story that ends at 30.

What I am thinking is that we'll still have to start at lvl 30 (all good and nice ^^) to get the soulstone, and all stories only 35-40-45-50 to get it capped.

We just are going to have a "free pass" (just a feeling, not really free), not having to lvl up (31-32 etc..) and simply enjoy the story.

A new player would have to do it all, of course.

    That sums it up.

PS - I would so be falling off my chair if they would plan to make advanced jobs - oh boy so much fun! (drooling at awesome abilities)

I am perfectly ok with not having to re-level the class to 30. I just think it sorta cheats us out of gameplay to let us have the job immediately at 50. Hopefully they implement some sort of system for it.

d'what? You must be healing wrong if you are actually running out of MP. For those times when I do find myself dpsing fairly often (the only reason my mp gets half a bar used or more) while healing I pop Shroud of Saints and it works perfectly. Usually I don't even need to worry about using SoS again until it's already reached it's cooldown. Most of the time I don't even need to use SoS because my MP hasn't really budged.
