This is not FFXI

I cannot be the only one who is tired of people saying "give me this because i liked it in FFXI" or "nin was tank in FFXI, so will be tank here" (followed by tears when it is DPS). I'm getting really tired of the comparison between the two. I didn't get mad when my Monk couldn't use suplex, but Sabin from FFVI was a Monk and had suplex. It's a different game with a different engine and different feel. The characters and classes are different, so can we PLEASE stop using XI as a basis for how this game should/will develop?

Right, I'd love Samurai tank right now. That's not the complaint I have. We do need a new tank, but it was never going to be ninja

People want ninja to be a tank, because like you and apparently a large majority of every one else, you assume that there is a problem with our current amount of tanks. You also apparently believe that adding a new tank class is going to magically fix all the problems. Do you honestly believe that the reason that people aren't playing tanks is because they don't like the class choices? No, they don't like playing tanks because its an often times stressful and boring job.

Healers : WHM, SCH
DPS : BRD, DRG, MNK, BLM, SMN

For every 1 tank and 1 healer role there are 1 and a half dps roles. Meaning even if every class was played in equivalent amounts, every 2 light partiess, and every full party would leave one dps short a group. By sheer numbers this game does, in fact, NEED more tank and healer jobs.

Also, yes more people play dps roles as you pointed out. So the solution to that is...piling more dps roles on top of it?

Adding new tank and healer classes would only diversify the tank and healer pool, not increase the number of people who play them.

Case in point, lots of people wanted to play warrior! Then warrior was revealed to be a tank, and a good portion of those people said "eeeeehhhh nevermind"

The majority of people who play mmos play dps and dps only, adding new tank and healer jobs wont change that.

The game isn't in sore need of more tank or healer jobs at all. The game is in need of people who want to play those job types, and more jobs isn't going to change that.

Players who love DPS more than tanks would still play DPS
