Morbol Menace a bit unfair for Bards

Morbol Menace is one of the potential enemies an alexandrite map can give you. This enemy does a seemingly unavoidable bind then immediately bad breaths you. A couple of these and you are dead. Even with a healer chocobo. Every job but Bard has a way of dealing with this mechanic.


Scholar: leech bind.
White Mage: esuna bind.
Paladin: stun when he tries to bad breath or use tempered will to break the bind.
Warrior: stun when he tries to bad breath.
Monk: stun when he tries to bad breath.
Summoner: physick spam to stay alive or have titan egi handle it.
Black Mage: physick spam to stay alive.
Dragoon: stun or elusive jump to break the bind.

Bard: nothing. We have no skills that can stun or interrupt his bad breath. We have no skill that breaks bind. Or repelling shot doesn't work when bound. Kiting doesn't help. He can bind you even if you're not even close to him.

The only strategy I've come across is aggro another enemy and have him hit you to break the bind. But the problem with this is that the enemy will be a low level and will miss you very frequently. If all its auto attacks miss then there's nothing you can do.

As a bard, this is the only alexandrite map enemy that gives me problems when soloing because we aren't designed to deal with it. And I think this is an oversight on Yoshi's part.

just do it as sch then? you don't need to do it on the job you're getting the alexandrite for. All the maps so far can be soloed as sch and probably other jobs.

Doing it on another job is an option but that doesn't change the fact that the encounter isn't balanced for Bards.

I didn't disagree that its unfair for certain classes, but that's why you have the option to do it on any class or with friends. Bring 1 person problem solved.

Had one my FC members ask for a healer to lend a hand for this, so I came along. While they were a Paladin, I can see why this could be frustrating. Having to manually remove 7 debuffs is enough as it is...

From what I understand you need to have your atma weapon equipped, and they are job only. Also the enemy is immune to stun, so it's not just bards that can't get out if they get stuck.

I did it as SCH with a wave codex and got the alexandrite. For my Brd relic.
