Graphical Issues on PS4 - Flickering Trees, Grass, Plants, Grates, Bricked Walls

Hello SE,

An issue has intensified when playing on my PS4. If I pan my camera, or move a really headache inducing flicker happens on all Plants, Trees, Grass, detailed walls such as grated walls or brick walls.

If I had to compare this to anything else, it's like running through a dark room with a strobe light.

Please help!

Can I get some support on this? I'd like to know if I need to be getting a new PS4.

This isn't my specialty, but maybe it's a glitch specific to your combination of graphical settings+machine? Have you tried varying any of the graphical settings? You mention it happens on foliage and other detailed textures, so maybe it's a situation with your machine being unable to handle graphics past a certain amount of information.

As soon as I login with PS4 I have the issue. I tried a couple of TV's now to see, and also lowered the graphics to the lowest available PS4 preset and no change.

Only happens to the trees, plants, grass and any kind of wall tapestries or anything in the open world that's not just a regular wall or flatland or water.

My guess is it's a shader problem of some kind since those objects utilize them the most.

Inside of dungeons or any form of duty I don't see the issue.

edit: I'm going to try with my PS Vita and see if I get the flickering, I just checked my Share Uploads because I was going to post a video of it and for whatever reason the video actually looks impressive, no flicker, crystal clear. Very bizarre.

Yeah, sounds weird.
Try testing with other hdmi cable or something. Also one possibility is that this always happens but just noticeable on bigger screens?

In my heart of hearts I want to say this began after 2.28, I feel like I would've noticed but, it's a subtle issue I wish I could show it on the forum here.

You'd have to be a gamer with a fine eye to catch it it's a very subtle dubstep like flicker that happens only when panning camera or moving. Interesting testing though

A.) With my PS Vita the image is crystal, no flickering.
B.) All my TV's have this issue, and I have a TV that allows me to manipulate resolutions like a monitor would, and no matter what I get the flicker.
C.) Videos created with the Share tool don't give this problem, I can't see any flickering on them, so I feel like the GPU is rendering it fine.

I'm starting to worry if this is

Drivers or Faulty HDMI Connections, trying new HDMI cable next.

By the way, don't count that share would reproduce all things. At least on SF3 and Dirt3 @ ps3, looks like they use a lowered rendering for saving videos so the videos aren't quite equal to what we see on the console.

I agree about the share at repeated examination, the shadows are what flicker and the shadows aren't really visible on the plants/trees via the shared video anyhow.

So I changed my HDMI cable to a high speed gold HDMI cable and no changes. The interesting thing is that at Night Time this doesn't happen. This only happens at daylight (talking about game time, not realtime).

I do not have this issue at all via the Vita connection, though Vita test might be the same as the Share Video. I may call Sony and see about an RMA just in case but I have a suspicion I'll get a new console and it'll just be the same story, if so I can deal with it, I love FFXIV. I just don't want a busted PS4.

Have you tested any other games for this glitch? If it was something in the ps4 I would think that you'd get issues in other games as well.
