FFXIV E3 PS3 Sale Question

Ok, so I've been away for a while, (about 8 months) and I've just been waiting for the content to build up. So now there is a sale on the Standard (12$) and Collectors edition (22$) of final fantasy in the Playstation Store.

My main question is will you be able to buy those, register it on the website so it shows you have a registered PS3 version of the game, and then turn around and be able to upgrade to the PS4 version? Or is that only for pre-release versions of the PS3 copies before the Ps4 version came out?

All PS3 players are able to upgrade their service account to a PS4 version, which then invalidates the PS3 license. If you own neither but intend to play on PS4, then buying the cheaper PS3 version is the smart way to go about it lol

Just make sure that you've already logged in to the game at least once on the PS3. Without doing this you will be ineligible for the upgrade.

That is incorrect info. I did not have to do this in order to upgrade to PS4. My PS3 was packed up when I bought the game and upgraded.
