Trouble opening Menus, especially items tab

I've been having trouble opening my items and sometimes other tabs. I'll be auto running, or just manually cruising around and press t. When I do that, it takes a little bit for the window to even load up and my character will often run in random directions, usually in a curve to the left or right. It's as if the buttons being held down before the "t" button was pressed were stuck being held as the window is opening.

I'm not a code developer, so I can't tell you exactly what's wrong. But that's what it seems like to me.
