"I'm OK. This rock broke my fall."
I sure do hope so, releasing just one new class/job is better then zero, but two would be better as it would give people more options for diversity.![]()

I'll remain in the uncertain part until a offical trailer of the Gun class is revealed first.
If it true then yeppie! I can finally play a Gun class.
If not ah well that gives me time to train Rogue/Ninja and gearing up again.
They seem really concerned with keeping things balanced, so to me releasing 2 dps classes (1 ranged, 1 melee, and it's not looking to be simultaneously unfortunately) would be a way to keep things balanced, dps-wise when it's all said and done. Obviously 1 melee in the next patch or 2 would leave us with 3 ranged jobs, 3 melee jobs. The future patches could bring at least another dps (I'd put my money on a gunner class, just for the sake of balance and the demand for it) as well as a tank and healing job with the expansion.
Rogue/ninja are 2.4 (aiming for this at least, as said during e3 live letter). Gun class is likely still a bit off.
Previously from me:
The empty slots mentioned were added last patch.
I remember reading somewhere, some time ago, about Yoshi saying that since this game lacks a "scout-type class" that it would the the first to be added. Otherwise we probably would have got Red Mage and Blue Mage first. Just be patient.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
Maybe not MSK specifically, but he did mention gun class along with dagger. It's not surprising people expected gun too, Yoshi himself said there would be one coming soon. They seemed to have backtracked since then but that's not the same thing as expecting something we shouldn't have.
Here are the facts:
1. XIV 1.0 alpha launched. All of the current classes save for Arcanist were out at launch, with Arcanist and Musketeer being "close to launch."
2. 2.0 launched with Arcanist, one of the missing classes. Those of us who were excited for Musketeer were annoyed, but we'd already waited two years by that point.
3. In an interview at last E3, Yoshi said that "it's not about what classes I want to put in but rather which ones I have to put in" and made mention about a gun class. He also said something to the effect of wanting to make it a dual-wielding class.
4. In a more recent interview he said that we'd be getting more classes before the next expansion. The gun class was alluded to as being "not what we all expect."
5. E3 rolled around this year and he showcased the Rogue class with one of its jobs, Ninja. No mention of Musketeer anywhere except for an interview with 2p.com where he basically sums it up as "We're doing Rogue before Musketeer because something something pvp."
So you're right, he never promised the class. Tanaka promised the class way back, but that's ancient history now. What he has done is tease the class endlessly, adding to how annoying it already is that we've had to wait for four years without even a mention of the thing. I have every right to expect the class, as does every single player who's been waiting on it since 1.0.
You can expect whatever you want, but how is he making excuses when he never promised anything. So you're right, he never promised the class.
