Good catch on the XIVDB stuff, but keep in mind the following:
We were given the hint in a previous live letter we are also at some point getting a Gun Class which will inevitably use Dex, this was claimed to be before any expansion on that same letter but very vague with no promises.
This could also be testing for Archer buffs, because SE honestly nerfed it too hard. (No I don't play a BRD, IDGAF about it I just noticed when leveling and when playing a couple of low level matches it was significantly slower DD than every other job I have at 50 in the "DD" category. And if it's not full support, it should still kick some a--. Personally I'd be a BRD if BRD was more a true support class with a host of interesting songs etc)
Outside of this, yeah, could be Ninja, anyone translate that Japanese?

while i am not 100% sure if those traits belong to Rogue, and ofc they are subject to change later,
but if you look closely into them other than their names and descriptions,DEX enhance I comes at lv8,fallen damage reduction at lv14,DEX enhance II at lv16 and etc.....with that throwing knives trait as the last one at lv48,
it just fits perfectly with how traits are distributed throughout leveling of a class in this game atm,so i would assume that they are basically all the traits you will get as a Rogue

i think it will be really really stupid from them, to make the rogue go for dex, while it know for increase ranged attack, more important... imagine the fact that ninja can't wear fuma armor... what the point? or more bad, forced to used the ballad armor from CT that have nothing in commons with rogue/ninja look wise.
put the ninja on the same stuff than monk seems more logical, the two class will be fast paced (from what we have seen of the video) and they are both melee. finally, we don't ask drg, war or pld to have dex because they throw them spear, axe or shield, right?
with the add later of the MSK, we will have another class DEX based, don't need to add 2 DEX based class in row. by the way, actually, melee class dps are the less played, how many time monk and drg stuff drop and no one want it? complain about stuff that drop or so... is... well.
ps: if you do a group, i highly doubt that you will take a monk and ninja at the same time... it will be one or the other one.
I very much doubt the Ninja will use DEX as it stats, it only affects ranged damage and they have already said that they will be bringing out another ranged class so that will be sharing DEX with the BRD.
They would have to completely change DEX to allow piercing damage from daggers/swords and I doubt that'll happen aswell.
But ya, the thing ppl should be most afraid of is the possibility of the Ninja actually being alot better than the MNK/DRG and that then leading to them being replaced everywhere, it is another melee class after all.
Daggers will be Slashing type i think, so people will want to have the WAR/NIN combo. They would have to completely change DEX to allow piercing damage from daggers/swords and I doubt that'll happen aswell.

So Summoner will compete with the super powerful Black mages when they balance them and Monk/Dragoon shouldn't have to compete?
There would still be 2 offensive caster while with Ninja, there will be 3 melees. I honestly wouldn't like Ninja's damage to be slashing since that would facilitate their popularity even more considering most raid group should have a warrior by now.
The dex/str issue can be solved easily with a specific rogue trait saying something like "convert DEX into melee physical dmg", no need to change what dex does and still force ninjas to go after DEX gear.
It depends on fights actually, against T4 for instance the best was to have 1 bard ( they need to add another class that can give regen to prevent bards to be a must have ) 1 melee and 2 mages so there was no room for 2 melees, now for T7 it's better to have only 2 ranged DD to predict the fireballs and so having 2 melee, the brd and a mage, makes one of the mage less desired.
