I think this thread also considers that people are going to run will all melee dps, where as I think it's far more likely that in most groups Ninja will replace a MNK or DRG while still bringing along your token Bard and Caster.

Well, that is another concern. There's already a lack of desire to take melee DD along on certain encounters. Including another melee DD class, a new swankier one, is only going to add to the existing woes of Monk and Dragoon.
