Need some advice for a new gaming laptop

    Hello!!

Im a bit troubled because i want to change my old laptop

    Samsung i5 @ 2.4 GHz/6 Gb Ram/1Gb dedicated Video Card (Nvidia Gt540M DDR3)
Right now i play the game with the lowest settings (I don't want to force better quality and lower the performance of the laptop)

And im thinking to get a Lenovo Gaming Laptop IdeaPad Y510P. It has an i7 4th generation processor 2.4 GHZ up to 3.4 GHZ/8GB Ram/2 GB Dedicated video Card (Nvidia GT755M DDR5)

(BTW i know that there is another model of the IdeaPad Y510P with a NVidia GT755M DDR5 Sli with 16GB, but sadly that laptop is not in my country in any kind of retail store or specialized store)

That Laptop would be enough to run the game with high quality settings without sacrificing the performance of the laptop???

whats your budget, we cant advise unless we know how much you are willing to spend.

but yes that laptop will be fine to play this, may not max it out at constant 60 fps, but its decent enough specs, the only laptop gpus really better then that one is nvidia 765 m/860m

    Don't DO IT! Best advise.

Regardless of what anyone in the world tells you. There is no such thing as a gaming laptop unless you are playing solitaire.

Regardless of my personal thoughts, Asus as a line for gaming "Republic of gaming."

But looking into it. There current flag ship laptop doesn't come with the Nvidia 880m

Some of us have to use laptops for multiple reasons. That said very happy with my ASUS laptop i7, 860m, etc etc. The thing I like about the asus products is the large (for a laptop) fan vents. You can get an idea of what I'm talking about from this picture.

I recommend Asus ROG series as well. Bought one awhile back when 1.23 was around in old XIV just now updated to the top of line. Have no major complaints. They do not have the fancy color buttons and stuff of Alienware, but if they have equally as powerful components for alot less. And they are well made.

As for no laptop for gaming the new Asus ROG JZ with the 880M is pretty beastly... both in performance and price though. You can get a gaming laptop in my opinion but it will cost you a pretty penny to get up to an average gaming desktop's performance level. Nothing Mobil can compete with a decked out pc though.

That is very true. For those of us that have to have something mobile though, there are good gaming options out there. I don't think anyone would argue that you can get better in a desktop though.

I also recommend Asus as both a brand and a manufacturer of gaming laptops. I'm currently using one I bought in 2011 and I have no issues, although its age is starting to show. Of course, the newer models are even better, and $1300 is a nice budget if you absolutely must use a laptop (desktops are always better as far as the equipment you get for the price, but if you must be mobile, Asus is the way to go). Before my current laptop, I had a different Asus gaming laptop that I bought in 2008, which I also used for three years and had no issues with.

As far as the vents... yes, I like the placement of vents on Asus laptops. The newer models are a lot easier to clean than the older ones (I used to have to take my 2008 one apart... ugh!). Some canned air should be enough to blow out the vents to prevent any overheating issues. I recommend running a GPU monitor to keep an eye on your temperatures so you know when it's time for a routine blowout. Once a month or so should be fine.

I don't recommend gaming laptops unless they're unavoidable. They tend to have short life spans....very short. This is due to the extreme stess they are put under that manufacturers more or less try to ignore. If you're going to serious game on a laptop factor in extended warranty.

    performance wize
a 765m is about a 460gtx ish... which is a fairly popular model and scores a good 30-45fps on high/maximum setting in ARR currently. (was it like ~4000 on the ARR bench?)

the 550M scores so low btw you might as just stick in an intel...the different is ...meh..

I had one of the ASUS ROS G55 as well, it don't even get hot at all when I play FFXIV all day. I had it for 3+ years and it still running great (all credits goes to the giant fans).
However, I still want some portability out of this laptop, so currently I'm also keep my eyes on ASUS N550JK, also maybe with low possibility ASUS G56jr (rare in US tho)

I think N550JK can run preset "laptop high" should be no problem.

MAYBE I'll consider MSI, but you know just maybe...I'm not that trust them yet. like MSI GT60. but 100% no Lenovo...unless it's a Thinkpad
