Are people really still saying Thief can't happen in XIV, when the Bard we have is... Well, not Bard? Three Songs doesn't make a Bard, it makes it a DPS with Songs. Thief would be exactly the same, for better or for worse.

Just mix it with Chemist (Rikku says hi) so we can have a proper Mix system in the game, because if we get Chemist it'll work like Archer, having a magically infinite pool of potions. Mix it with Thief though? Steal steals reagents from enemies, Mix mixes them together and then you use them. Then just throw in the enmity management XI tried for and you can easily go about adding new abilities, just like Bard they wouldn't all have to fit the Job either, unless you're telling me Rain of Death is a spoony ability?

Instead of saying "Thief wont happen", say "I can't imagine Thief happening", because that's what you really mean.

I like how you think this 'CHM/THF idea will make the 'Thief people' happy.

They don't just want the Name Thief in game....they want the name+ a very specific skillset/playstyle. And for most of them, mixing potions and being 'support' isn't it. I mean heck, what weapon will this THF/CHM use (and btw....they'd STILL be pissed, because mostly likely even if this happened, THF would be the class and Chemist would be the 'advance' IE Job. ...meaning no sexy THF AF/weapons/relics etc. )

SE created a class (Rogue) that seems to be very much in line with a 'fast paced, dual-wielding,stealthy, quick attacker DD who's attacks might not pack the same individual punches as other DD's, but w/ speed/position checks/debuffs=formidable beast of a roll.
Ninja=the advance on this (Job). To me it seems most of the butt-hurt boils down to 1. THF is not the name used for either role (even though it functionally could be). 2. Rogue=Ninja and therefore the AF gear appearing in game will NOT be similar to THF. 3. Modest butthurt that the Job is NIN and Not THF....and that NIN is a DPS role in this game vs. tank. (which makes the FFXI people have to deal with effectively 2 letdowns in 1).

What people want is their FFXI THF, and it's skillset/playstyle in THIS game. This is what people are saying is 'not going to happen'

Will they maybe call something THF one day? yeah maybe. but will it play like those most disappointed by the current announcements wish it to play? Nope.
So then, is it really a THF?...or just something with the name?

And if you only want the name Thief in game, regardless of how the class functions/plays...well isn't THAT a little silly?

Again, Rogue/Ninja= very much a 'THF like' play style. So you got the gameplay/DD/playstyle you want. Who cares if they call it the 'Purple Unicorn Fisticuffs'? It plays the SAME.
