Literally the best post in this thread....and by a mile....So wait: IF they called the Rogue a THF, then people would be happy...even if not a single skill/attack/action was changed....but they call it Rogue, give a valid reason why they decided to call it that, and people are upset?
You got the class/role you wanted
A rose by any other name man....
Now they should add geomancer but call it "Elementalist" and berserker but call it "Viking" and watch the forum drown in tears...
I guess that depends on how well you can read. People want a thief, not a rogue, and they damn sure don't want it to be a class. Do you really not see why asking for one of the most common FF jobs (With lore attached, AF, full 9 yards) that had several appearances as the protagonist's role isn't that far fetched? I mean, I know some people understand some topics better than others but I didn't think an explanation on why people want Thief in a FF game. It boggles the mind.

What boggles the mind more is how changing the name makes any difference to how the class plays. If we're being honest, our Black Mage is about as far removed from the Black mage's of old as can be and is pretty much Black mage in name alone. Sure they have nukes, but only if you count three measly elements and none of the supporting spells like Drain.I guess that depends on how well you can read. I'd sooner have a class which plays like a thief, looks like a thief and is called a Rogue than a class which plays nothing like either and is still named a Thief.

They want to play Thief as a Job. Not change the class name into Thief. What boggles the mind more is how changing the name makes any difference to how the class plays. If people want to play Thief, is it harming anything? The same people who would play Thf are playing a DD job anyways? It doesn't matter how many DD jobs are out there, the people who want to play DD will flock to DD.
If its a class you will never be playing it anyway. You get to be honorable assassin being stoic and crap and doing naruto bs.
Except it's a class and will likely have no iconic Thief abilities. If we're arguing being in the same archtype let's go ahead and say Samurai shouldn't come since we have an eastern-style katana user, or dark knight since we already have a fighter archtype, etc. Most of us would rather play a *job* named Thief, with iconic Thief abilities, than a class named Rogue who uses daggers and is an agile-style fighter. What boggles the mind more is how changing the name makes any difference to how the class plays. EDIT: Went and double checked to make sure that isn't remotely what people were asking. For real man, are you just reading one sentence then running the rest of the conversation in your head?
