What would a THF job offer ?

Steal.
Buff/Stats Stealing.
Enmity management.

It could effectively be exactly the same as Bard; a semi-support Job. Bard restores MP/TP when people are low, and increases magic damage. Thief could remove enmity when DPS/Healers pull hate, and increasing physical damage.

They could even go the FFX route and make a Thief/Chemist hybrid. You "Steal" items from mobs which go in a special inventory system, and then you can Mix them for various effects. Go through a dungeon Stealing off everything, then Mix those items together when you get to the boss. Rouge is already set to use poisons; Ninja uses poisons, Thief makes potions. DPS/Healer.

Everyone is OK with a subpar Bard at this point, no real reason they can't give Thief the same treatment. Heck, just make it another DPS, why can't one Class have two Jobs that fill the same role? Make it so Steal is used on party members; Dragoon just used Blood for Blood? I'll Steal (though really copy) that, basically a mix between Mime and Thief.
