Yeah, soloing is possible but always vastly inferior to grouping. As it should be.
Get the hell out of here with that crap.

chill out you elitist loser, people have opinions how bout you respect them?
He has a point and I'm guessing you're one of those guys who thinks he's so "cool" because he plays 12 hours a day on MMOs and grinds endlessly to get all max levels then thinks he's better than everyone.
FF14 community is better without people like this.
I'm one of those guys that plays few hours a day for a long time to get to cap. I may not be cool, but I sure as hell am enjoying myself, knowing that there are still goals to reach in the distance and sidecontent to tackle.
Content density is what matters. Something that the retarded anti-grind people are unable to grasp.
Yeah, fortunately it's not mandatory.Mandatory group leveling in an MMO is a horrible concept. /2gil
Yes it's not mandatory and yes content density does matter and, finally, yes every rpg has to have some sort of grind, but there's a difference between a necessary grind and a painful, wasteful grind. FF11 undoubtedly had plenty of the latter.I'm one of those guys that plays few hours a day for a long time to get to cap. Despite group play not being mandatory it is CLEARLY advantageous to the point where I consider solo play nonexistant in this game. People are dissapointed because on several accounts yoshida discussed making the game a hybrid, for any playstyle really.
How can anyone enjoy this content density you speak of if they can't get to it and have a lifestyle that doesn't cater to hours of gameplay in a week? Solo play should be inferior, progression wise, to group play but not this much.
It's impossible to do so.
And to be more accurate, soloing will never be nonexistant. There is always a place for it (while lfging for example, or when you don't have enough time).
Everyone should want to group if they have time to do so. If you don't, you're not the demographic this game appeals to.
Also, casual =/= solo. Casual playstyle can involve primarily grouping.
soloplay should be inferior to the point where it actually matters. It seems this is the case. How can anyone enjoy this content density you speak of if they can't get to it and have a lifestyle that doesn't cater to hours of gameplay in a week? There's only so much "content density" that can be found in a piece of rock.
