    Soloing no more?

I've been enjoying everything about 1.18 EXCEPT the difficulty given to the solo option. So is this going to turn into another FFXI where you have to group to get anywhere in the game?

I understand this is an MMO but it is firstly a Final Fantasy game and I am a Final Fantasy fan. I want to enjoy a rich storyline of characters and advance my character without HAVING to group to do it. Sure grouping should be necessary sometimes but what I hated about FFXI was that I had to group ALL the time.

In the last three hours I've completed all the new company quests I can do (except dungeons), completed four new quests and done three levequests... and not ranked once. I'm only rank 26. Seriously? That is terrible. I thought we were supposed to be leading away from the unfavorable grind aspect of MMOs but i dont see how you can rank/level without grinding your ass off.

I'm really confused as to how levequests are supposed to be the ideal solo option now, as stated by yoshi-P, yet now you get crap SP for levequests. As a rank 26 I did a camp horizon levequest on 3star difficulty, had to kill ten challenging guys and all i got was a mere 600 bonus SP at the end? And how much do you need to rank up? like 13000 SP or something? You get around 1000 Sp for completing quests that require you to just run around and talk to ppl and that's still not enough to avoid a grindfest. (Not to mention the new costs for spells such as Cure that really make it harder to solo)

Please please please dont make FFXIV just one big grind party. Have at least a little bit of a solo option.

But other than that 1.18 is pretty awesome. By 1.20 this is going to be one hell of a game.

Man, I was really looking forward to this patch, but it is the worst patch of this game yet.

It's quite good one. However it has got few clumsy things that should be reviewed (I am into details I draggin legs on the ground whike moving from pasive to active, I tried to bash F key and character is moving forward without leg movement - it looks not good and should be fixed to look normal at laset with PS3).

I guess I'm just too much of a MUD/Early MMO player to realize grouping, whether forced or optimal, isn't a bad thing and soloing my way to glory can be done offline.

No, you just aren't in touch with reality. Back to FFXIVcore with you.

Yeah, soloing is possible but always vastly inferior to grouping. As it should be.

Get the hell out of here with that crap.

chill out you elitist loser, people have opinions how bout you respect them?

He has a point and I'm guessing you're one of those guys who thinks he's so "cool" because he plays 12 hours a day on MMOs and grinds endlessly to get all max levels then thinks he's better than everyone.

FF14 community is better without people like this.

I'm one of those guys that plays few hours a day for a long time to get to cap. I may not be cool, but I sure as hell am enjoying myself, knowing that there are still goals to reach in the distance and sidecontent to tackle.

Content density is what matters. Something that the retarded anti-grind people are unable to grasp.

Mandatory group leveling in an MMO is a horrible concept. /2gil
    Yeah, fortunately it's not mandatory.

Yes it's not mandatory and yes content density does matter and, finally, yes every rpg has to have some sort of grind, but there's a difference between a necessary grind and a painful, wasteful grind. FF11 undoubtedly had plenty of the latter.

Despite group play not being mandatory it is CLEARLY advantageous to the point where I consider solo play nonexistant in this game. People are dissapointed because on several accounts yoshida discussed making the game a hybrid, for any playstyle really.

How can anyone enjoy this content density you speak of if they can't get to it and have a lifestyle that doesn't cater to hours of gameplay in a week? Solo play should be inferior, progression wise, to group play but not this much.
