    Materia and Spiritbonding

    I understand that materia melded to a piece of equipment will help it spiritbond at a faster rate, but I am wondering, does the GRADE or AMOUNT of materia melded to that piece of equipment have a factor? Thanks

    -Buffing during cutscenes.
    -Pets receiving the Protect buff.

    Each piece gives about 20%, HQ gives about 20% over NQ, spiritbond+1 gives about a 5% boost (meteor survivor ring is the only piece worth wearing in most cases, and you can buy a 2nd one from the calamity salvager)

    Thank you very much! Do you happen to know the ilvl breakdowns for the conversion of materia and grade received? For example, I understand that ilvl70 gear yields a grade IV materia 100% of the time. Do you (or anyone else reading this post) know the breakdowns or could link me with a site that has them all listed? Thanks!

    Assuming you only want grade 3 and above, level 45 gears always ensure one. It also has a slight chance to give a grade 4.

    Thanks I appreciate your reply. I actually knew that, but I'm looking for the specifics.

    Base on my experience, it should go like this. It's not 100% accurate for between 1~34 but I hope it helps.

    < 30 -> Grade 1
    30~44 -> Grade 2
    45~55 -> Grade 3
    70+ -> Grade 4
    Levels above indicate the requirement to get 100% of that grade. Higher level of that range have chance to get next higher grade.

    I can confirm that lvl44 gear can still give grade 2 and mythril tier accessories (Starting 35) gives a grade 2 (100%) or 3.

    Thanks! Might you also know the percentages at which certain ilvl have a chance to convert into a IV? I've heard that 45-54 is 10% chance and 55-69 is a 20% chance, with 70 being 100%.

    I'm not so sure on the chance myself but I get one Grade 4 materia for every 10~15 ilvl 45~50 gears so I guess the percentage you mentioned could be accurate.

    I think 10% for 45-50 gear may be a bit high. Definitely higher than 5% - probably closer to 7 or 8. I don't SB higher level items at all because they take a very long time. You should only consider using SB+ gear if you are doing more than 5 pieces at once. I used to SB in full patrician plus crafting accessories - the only job specific item I had was the weapon. The drop in damage output, though, increases the time it takes - not sure where the break even or tipping point is. It also requires dedicated SB activity - you can't do that in a DF party unless you're a total jerk. I now only SB 5 accessories at one time which still gives me great performance (accessories have much less impact on stats than the left side gear). With just doing roulettes and such for the tomes I need, I SB about 35 - 50 pieces a week.

    Good original question regarding the impact of using more than 1 meld. As that would require over-meld on accessories (which is the only ones I use), I've not even attempted it.

    Actually ilvl70 gear is not 100% like I and many others assumed. I just converted an Erudite's Picatrix of Healing into a Lightning Materia III...
