    That would make balance Hell. You could have 2 tanks 2 heals 2 DPS or 1 heal 1 tank 4 DPS. Those makeups will have a difference of several hundred DPS when you consider tank and heal classes in full DPS mode normally still barely reach or top 200-220 DPS and a full DPS class can go well over 300. Encounters would be faceroll easy with 4 DPS so that you can clear them with 2 DPS. FFXI balanced this by the fact that more DPS meant more TP feed which meant more damage being taken. Though that also encouraged people to only bring the most efficient and damaging DPS classes.

    Yeah, because what I'm suggesting is, you know, completely different to the concept of pre-formed parties today....where many places can be solo tanked and solo healed, with 6 dps, or whatever (eg. all primals but Ifrit Ex, Turn 2, Turn 5 (but with 2 healers))


    The point being, pre-formed parties already allows for mixed make-ups making "balance Hell". The DF queue times are terrible, and we're resisting doing anything about it because of "balance Hell"?

    Most of the time those mixed parties require a tank and/or healer that is what you would consider somewhat overgeared for the dungeon thus the balance is still there. You wouldn't want to be DFed into a Titan EX with the only tank and heal at minimum ilevel for the Trial even though that combination is perfectly viable with a solidly geared tank and healer. You would be screwed. Your scenario would make this a potential reality and thus the devs would have to balance the encounter with this possibility in mind or else tweak the DF to ensure a compatible job combination.
