Just wanted to mention that since the dawn of the last astral era players have been BEGGING for this game to be more like FFXI. But just as many if not more players have begged for it to not be like FFXI.
I wouldn't mind seeing some elements of FFXI in the overworld content, tbh. Might be better than boring ol' FATEs. Campaign/Besieged style battles and such. Then again, that would probably cause massive server issues so nevermind me. =)

XI was way way way bett..... yeah you know it !

I use to be one of those guys, that was very critical on FFXIV, and compared my feelings playing it to my 7 year gaming time on FFXI... Then I had to take step back, and give FFXIV the chance that I gave FFXI.
Instead of comparing the two, I had to compare the two before FFXI's first expansion. Which I never really played because when I bought FFXI, Rise of Zilart was out and was established with updates. But doing that digging I found out that in the beginning of FFXI there was no Auction house. At all... Retainers only (or whatever they called that little shop bag by your name), I never knew this, kinda like how a new player would never know that two bee's use to pop on demon wall as you fight him...
If Yoshi P does with the first expansion what Rise of Zilart did with FFXI... Man, its gonna improve drastically, cause with new areas can come new ideas, such as new fates, and if he wanted to add NM's to the fold he can with those new areas. Not to mention the random Primals in the open world that can be captured which should come soon before expansion.
In my opinion, if that first expansion comes with a killer storyline, and when I'm done with the said storyline, I get access to something like Sea, sky, Limbus, Dynamis, anything that I can grind with 40 plus free company members? Then it will just that quickly have turned into one of the best games around. Not to mention if that boss to finish that storyline had players throwing controllers and wishing they had access to ( lets call it Limbo a dream world between worlds where free companies can camp mobs for drops to pop gods?) As in the words of a New Yorker, Oh shit Son!!!

I dunno, even before XI's first expansion there was a large chunk of content, and a good bit of difficult content... For its time. I remember outside of Bastok if you even attempted to go on that hill, you were going to be murdered by goblins solo...
But I digress. XIV is good in its own right, is it as magical as XI felt? No, because I was certainly younger and had much more free time to spare. But these changes are nothing near the levels of XI grinding in its early days.
Sounds like another Novus rant, which is 100% optional lol

I can't go with the premise that XIV is going the same route as XI did. At the very least, XIV is trying to keep the grind from becoming gun-in-mouth tedious. Trials of the Braves, while a grind, is by no means tedious as you're moving to different places and doing different things on your way to completing a book. I'll admit collecting Myth tomes can get boring after a while. The best thing I can say is to not try to get all 1,500 in one day. Get some crafting in, make some gil, keep your Chocobo in shape, help out the beast tribes (even those lovable losers in the 789th Order). Mix up you days in Eorzea and put the blinders away.

says the game is like FFXI
asks for Notorious monsters....
wut.

I still don't understand why people think the relic quest line is the only content in the game.
