Thank you for the most useful response in this thread.

To all those babbling about using voice chat - yes it's useful, but these people are mostly on PS4's and do not have a voice chat option. Also, many players in Japan who have cleared T6-9 NEVER use voice chat. They strictly rely on macros and their party's ability to be able to learn on what to do in their roles. Voice chat is a crutch for people who cannot learn what their role is and the fight's mechanics and need to be "warned" or "told what to do". In the case with boquet - sure the macro is not needed for ME, but some of my party members are a little slow to learn so this will help them until they are able to just see it on their own.

never understood it myself, they should be seeing the casting bar long before they read their chatboxes

Some of our healers are busy focusing on the tank to notice it and I can sympathize with them. That's why I have a macro with a sound so they can "hear it" rather than reading their chat box or seeing the cast bar.

If your healers are focused so much on the tank, I'm not sure how they managed to heal t5. That one demanded learning to optimize your ui and keep track of multiple critical displays. By the time people see the macro or hear it, reaction time after might be too long to help anyway.

    this^ 100%

idk why this is so hard for people... if you arent fully paying attention to the fight/mechanics then you deserve to die and are to blame for making your statics progress come to a halt.

Yup. And healers shouldn't be moving during bouquet times in any case (and it's safe to land a heal during the cast time). If someone doesn't notice their screen going yellow, I don't know how they deal with everything else.

First, the point about not using voice chat is legit, and I have no problem with macro's. However, it seems you have a contradiction that I'm struggling to understand. If voice chat is a "crutch", how is that different than macro's? Aren't they both accomplishing the same thing ("Warning" others)?

OP asked for macro and it turned into debate about being focused during the fight
I don't see the point of not using macro (or any other legit method supporting your team's success) if it is available and possible.

Also using macro being an indicator of party's inability to perform their role? cmon. True, that fights are predictable, but when the shit hits the fan and you get distracted, warning macro can save the day

if you get distracted to the point that you dont notice your WHOLE screen going yellow... then a warning marco will not do anything to save you.
