I started doing this when I learned it as a trick of my own but I stopped when I started having other WHM's do it while I tanked. Most tanks would rather have the comfort of knowing they have control of the mob and I never understood why tanks yelled at me for it until I saw how frustrating it was.

In PvP though it's great. Do it a lot there.
