Yup I think you hit the nail on the head... Never thought about that but I did know about the damage output. It works well with WS tooI'm just guessing here but it might depend on the properties of your weapon that decides which is better
for example
long sword: 70% slash, 20% stab, 10% blunt
dagger: 70% stab, 30% slash
you would want to use heavy slash with a long sword and heavy stab with a dagger for maximum damage and eminity
this is just how i saw it, i have nothing to back this up

I do not think those weapon affinities do much yet. And if they did it would suck, since the highest rank dagger is r31, nothing anywhere near R50.I'm just guessing here but it might depend on the properties of your weapon that decides which is better

I always use Heavy Stab for a 'tough' fight (NMs, etc). Heavy Slash is just too inaccurate to be worth the small amount of damage increase. Not to mention, it takes more stamina. If H.Slash had the same ACC as stab, then yes...I'd use it. But Slash just simply misses too often. No matter if my DEX is 60 or 174.
It's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything.

I've tried using slash vs stab with daggers and swords and I've never seen consistently more damage with one or the other on either weapon.

You also can't forget it depends on what kind of enemy you are attacking.
When I fight crabs, I use stab=more damage because of his thick shell.

Remember to use the corresponding attack that matches your weapon type to maximize damage! (Stab for daggers, slash for swords) That said, stab seems better if you're trying more for a successful hit than damage.

sort of in the same vein of discussion but not totally on topic Mrd's Full swing could use some looking at as well per hit it's about the same as broad swing the extra enmity is really not that noticeable and it's stamina cost is almost double that of broad swing. Given the stamina churn axe users already face due to our accuracy its really impractical under normal circumstances and worthless under stressful ones.

Yes I agree, Marauders do have that downside. I pretty much stopped mine because it annoyed me so much!sort of in the same vein of discussion but not totally on topic Mrd's Full swing could use some looking at as well per hit it's about the same as broad swing the extra enmity is really not that noticeable and it's stamina cost is almost double that of broad swing. The cost for the enmity isn't worth it, especially for the damage output. AND the fact that battles don't last nearly as long as they should
