    Suggestion: Please add a /target /tar command

    Hi,

I'd like to see a /target or /tar command added to the game. There are some specific ways I would like it to operate and it would be extremely useful for tanks or other keyboard users since targeting mobs with the mouse is awkward at times. This would enhance our quality of game life not exclusively in combat and make us better players in group settings.

I'd like to see the /tar command work very similar to World of Warcraft's. It may have been similar in EQ or other games but I never played any others where I found it. I'll explain its operation with an example:
Lets say shown on my screen are 3 mobs with the names Bomb, Goblin, and Goblin. If I was to type "/tar Bomb" I would target the bomb. If I was to type "/tar goblin" it would target one of the goblins but the one that is the closest to me. Finally if I was to type "/tar g" it would again target the nearest goblin.

Why does this help the PC user the most? Mainly because when you're in a raid group or other setting where a quick response is necessary, especially as a tank, I can't target a mob because there's too much on the screen. I find myself tab targeting through until it lands on the right mob. There's a chance though in my rush that I sweep past it and have to go through the whole rotation again. Otherwise, the main issue is sometimes if I try to right click on my intended target it clicks a different target instead because they are in front of the target or some other type of unclear and invisible area the game thinks is my intended target is clicked instead. I just find it difficult to use mouse targeting most of the time. I hope I'm not the only person that has experienced this with a mouse. I believe that's my source of the issue but I'd still have a faster response and better game life with the /tar command.

The /tar command seems like a simple implementation for the developers (in comparison to other requests) and would help a lot for quick response time not only with tanks but all users in high end game content. Specifically, the shortened /tar version and the targeting of the nearest NPC whose name begins with the inputted parameter would be very appreciative as a PC user or any user with a keyboard.

Why not just go with the letter they assign to the mob? So /tar A would target the mob marked A. I do feel your pain though.

Don't think you could do both when considering my example. The game wouldn't understand to use the target letter assignment or the name. But absolutely I'd take either.

I'm just thinking the assigned letter since that is universal to all players versus trying to check and compare ranges (I believe its easier to code that way but I'm no expert)
