    Scholar Guide

Here's a detailed guide for scholars who wish to optimize their play. It includes information about pet control, game mechanics, MP management, weaving skills, etc, and is relevant for the current patch. If you want to improve your performance as a scholar this guide should help you.

I am a learning scholar player myself and the guide contains what I have picked up and researched so far. There are bound to be mistakes so I would appreciate the feedback!

A very good guide. Should be good for beginners and intermediate players alike, whilst explaining some stuff a more seasoned SCH might not know in terms of optimization. You elaborated on some concepts I think most guides skip/omit, which was nice of you to do. (I am mainly referring to the shielding mechanics and timings and how stuff works - this is the stuff some people need to understand better).

Conversely, I think there were a few topics you didn't talk about much if at all and the guide contained a few a bit haphazardly phrased sentences which had some misinformation. (Eg. the statement where you mention that pet-swapping is required for Megaflare, though a DRG [who has the lowest mdef] can survive it without Fey Covenant, even with Succor and not Adloquium).

Overall though, this was one of the few guides I've read wherein I felt like the writer has made effort in being good at their job and understanding its nuances. Good effort.

Wow very good guide. Very convenient as I've started playing Scholara as of late.

I think the guide was very good as well, not many guides talk about skill weaving and quick DPS rotation
I also did not know about "stay" cancelling heals, that was interesting and I will test it later today

Very nice, especially the timing. I've fallen in love with SCH lately and am just now branching more to ways to optimize and not just keep people up.

I've been playing scholar for months and I'd say this guide is pretty much complete. It covers a lot. I'm especially glad it covers weaving because it's not something beginners would be aware since it's mostly used by DPS classes.

I think weaving is simpler to work out from a DPS class perspective. With some exception, rotations are planned out and it's easy to know you're going to do a 3 step combo and can weave in skills easy.

With healing, a lot of what is done is reactionary to what's happening in a given fight. That's something I love about healing. Almost every fight/dungeon for tank/dps is the same...same mobs, same basic progressions. With healing, a missed dodge, skill not being stunned, a buff not going off at the right time, can drastically change the fight and make it unique.

...back to topic (sorry!)...When I know what I'm going to be casting, it's easy to weave. When you're juggling actions on the fly, it's not as intuitive, and that's where players that really know their jobs and skills will be set apart from those just playing the job. I'm working towards that and have tons of respect for those that can already!

Here's an update to the guide!

Some of the information in the previous guide was incorrect (especially about the in-game delay) and I have fixed them after doing some testing. The colour seems to be fixed too. I have been observing how other SCHs play and added some extra playstyles and how I feel about the SCH's role in full parties. This, of course, changed my opinion about prioritising gear stats.

For some reason I cannot pull up this website on my computer or my phone. I wish I could read the guide.
