Couple of Questions about Soldiery Tomes and Brayflox (HM)

What gear would you guys recommend to farm for Soldiery in? I'm still pretty confused about what gear to wear, I've got my AF set still at the moment, and want to upgrade to the next level, but I read somewhere (and in PF) that they want/need people to be in ILvl90??

Also, from the 2.3 patch notes: -

The total number of Allagan tomestones of soldiery has been reduced from 45 to 30. This is for Brayflox (HM), Halatali (HM), and Lost City of Ampador. So I'm thinking that kind of sucks Cos the Myth has been upped! But rather than moaning, I'm wondering if there's anywhere else to farm Soldiery outside of a dungeon?

I've done a search here, and through Google, and it only seems to be the higher level dungeons that seem to be mentioned. I don't mind running dungeons, I just like variety Apologies in advance if I've missed anything blindingly obvious!

Make sure to make use of the Duty Roulettes in general for Soldeiry. People want i90+ healers for Brayflox because they want to speed run (generally needing at least 85+ ilvl to do so effectively). If you get into Brayflox HM in the DR and the tank decides to super pull with you in just AF1 gear, well, it's kinda their fault for not realizing your gear score ^^;...

In terms of upgrading, all of Halatali HM, Brayflox HM, and Lost City drop i70 gear, and are a decent source of Myth. Crystal Tower for i80 gear + Myth is a good alternative too. Though CT is more "chaotic" due to the size of the fights, you generally find a balance of high end people who can overcome the deficiencies of the low end players (though your mileage may vary, CT is always a crap shoot at times)

In terms of the lowering of Sold tomes dropping in general, I imagine the new i70 instances being released in 2.3 will have the same or higher Soldeiry dropping from them instead.

Yeah I read about why Soldiery was dropped, because of the new instances being released, and also Frontlines providing Soldiery (I don't pvp so doesn't really apply to me), I should imagine the dungeons being reassigned to Hard Mode will drop Soldiery as well!

I've been doing Roulette already for Soldiery, and luckily my FC will be running dungeons to farm Myth and Soldiery. I've read a lot of guides about gear progression, and there's so many choices... I really love the Vanya healing set, and I managed to snag a Rose Gold Circlet at a decent price. I prefer determination/spellspeed/pie over crit for healing, personal preference! Thank you for your help and advice

The general progression is thus, starting from a fresh 50:

Wanderer's Palace, Ampador Keep, Main Scenario Roulette, Ifrit HM.
Prioritize updating your gear to i50+. Easiest weapon to obtain is a grand company weapon you can purchase with seals. The above dungeons will also provide you with i55 weapons and i60 armor. The most difficult ones are accessories. Ifrit HM will yield your first i60 weapon and it is recommended for you to have one before tackling Garuda HM. Use any myth to upgrade your accessories and armor. If you party with an overgeared party, you can get away with less (exceptions being tanks who need the dps to maintain aggro and armor to survive.

Crystal Tower, Garuda HM, Copperbell HM, Haukke HM, Pharos Sirius, High Level Roulette, and Titan HM.
At this point, you should have an i60+ weapon, some i80 or i90 armor, and all your accessories should be i55 or higher. You won't be able to speedrun these dungeons, but you will be able to complete the dungeon with your current gear. The last dungeon you are likely to complete is Titan HM. At which point, you should immediately upgrade your weapon to relic zenith. Tanks should prioritize on a set of i90+ body and legs before tackling Titan.

Ampador Township, Brayflox, Primal EX, Coil T1-T4.
You will be able to work on soldiery and myth now, combining sets to stack secondary stats.

    Coil T5+
The important part is to obtain your i95 weapon or Atma/Novus. Once you get these, you can begin tackling the second Coil, T6 and higher.

Keep in mind this is just a general outline and you can change the order slightly. Good luck.

Some tips for gearing as a fresh 50.

    Cap your soldiery every week.

Buy the i55/i70 crafted set. Upgrade all your jewelry to i48+ HQ crafted.

Queue for dungeons that give you the best upgrades but go for buying your myth set.

Right now you should be aiming for getting full level 90 set combining mythology pieces and allagan from Coil 1. You should also aim to cap your soldiery every week to get item level 100 stuff. After you've beaten whole Coil 1 you'll get access to Coil 2 which gives you item level 110 gear (high allagan and chance to upgrade soldiery), if Coil 2 is something you're willing and able to do.

At the moment anything lower than i90 is pretty useless and is not worth spending gil on as you're able to farm i90 and i100 for free.

For weapon, if you haven't yet, start working on your relic.

Let's see how the tome changes are. The adding of more myth tomes may mean that the last bosses will also give myth tomes so that people who have capped the soldiery tomes don't leave the dungeon before the end, and stay a bit more for more myth tomes.

I suppose the new dungeons will be a bit more difficult so they are alone in the expert roulette instead of mixing them with the 3 that now are expert. And probably give more soldiery tomes than the high level roulette ones.

Yes, there are other ways of obtaining soldiery tomes. The new hunt, the frontline, and also the tribe quests I think. Soldiery tomes are capped 450/week, usually you will reach the cap without much effort with the roulettes. I cap the soldiery tomes now much sooner than I did whith the myth tomes when they were capped to 450, I had difficulties capping myth tomes back then.
