When I got a new laptop I decided to get a Killer wireless card and I have noticed my internet speed has more than doubled, and I notice much less latency issues, making dodging much much easier.

I play on PS3, so I can't do everything that you've done. But generally I don't have any kind of lag issues. But yesterday, all day, I had huge lag spikes in dungeons and instances. A party of all i90+ players wiped 3 times on Thornmarch (Hard, not extreme) last night. We were just playing it for fun. But so many of us had these huge lag issues that it was damn near impossible, even with the 20% echo!I don't know much about networking so I can't really speak on the technical issues. I also guess this doesn't give me much cause to blame SE for this. However, what I do know is there was a patch, there was a hotfix, and my connection went from pretty good to "abhorrent". And using battleping, routed to the DC and New York servers, did not fix the issue at all. Rubberbanding and network hiccups left and right. Primals and Coil were unplayable.
Hm...now I'm wondering if it was a PSN issue because now they're doing ninja maintenance and I can't log back in.
The current issues with the FFXIV servers are due to problems in the Level 3 network. If you look at 4.69.153.86 (Level 3, Montreal 2), 4.69.140.89 (Level 3, Chicago 1), 4.69.132.62 (Level 3, Chicago 2), and 4.28.20.29 (Level 3, Denver) you'll see that these hops have heavy packet losses going on. While I have to think that Level 3 knows about these issues since they're a major internet backbone it would be nice to have some level of communication.
For now all i can say is don't beat SE or Sony too hard. These issues are out of their control
On Saturday, I noticed in DF that myself and a couple of other members of the party would DC once or twice through the dungeon. As a tank, that sucked for me.
But Sunday - well, that was hell. DCing all over the place, in cities, FATEs, dungeons. Barely made it through all roulettes and finally decided to log off for the day. I even saw a bunch of random people in the cities and such with the little DC symbol. Latency hasn't been an issue for me, PS3 connected via LAN hard wire and I'm in FL on the Cerberus server. But this weekend DC fiasta was pretty bad. Maintence usually resolves all of that for me.
I was lagging everywhere yesterday as well, inside and outside the duty finder. Five to ten seconds of lag and everyone would stop in place besides my character. I hope it is better tonight.
Totally. Tried Ifrit Ex, asked if everyone ready to go, waited about ten seconds, and suddenly fight fast forwarded. I was at half health, two people dead and other tank was about to get second stack.
Yeah it sucks, I cant even farm up my soldiery without everyone 90k-ing all over the place.
I just don't get it, why are the servers running like we are on 56k connection from final fantasy 11?
though FFXI runs way better without issues.
Seems to happen to me after every patch. People somehow have discovered the secret Ninja job and teleporting all over the place in dungeons. Couple days go by, emergency maintenance, then *poof* all is right again. So not worried. Just glad I wasn't in some clear groups in coil. Roulettes are somewhat manageable; primals and coil, yeah, not so much.
