Except there's no threat. I never felt the need to get off the choco and proceed to murder everything in sight when hit with heavy. I just keep going, a little bit slower. This isn't a group of guys trying to carjack you, it's just an inexplicably slow speed limit in a section of road.

Regardless of how intentional it was to add this to the game, that doesn't negate the fact that there are quite a few players who want it removed. Just because something is working as intended doesn't mean we shouldn't bother to speak up about something we don't like about the game.
NB4 Camate tells us the dev team has no plans to remove Heavy from the game at this time.

And doesn't it *always* seem to happen right before the mob leaves the aggro radius and gets that last ranged attack in that you know it was nowhere near in range to be able to do it?
I think Heavy is pointless for this reason: You are still faster than the mobs while weighed down. You're still able to outrun them. Ranged will slowly peck at you, but you'll be regening health while running and you'll eventually be out of range because they still can't keep up with you. Boggles the mind.

It was intentionally designed to work that way. Notice how you don't get heavy when not mounted? It was added in so that you can't just run through mobs whilst running faster. Want to run through an area and not get heavied? Try running instead of riding.
The only change I'd like to see, is heavy only being applied after x amount of damage. Nothing worse than taking hardly any damage but somehow your chocobo is affected by that. It'd have much more effect if areas had mobs that were higher level than 50, too. Something to really make areas feel a little more dangerous.

Personally, I like how WoW does it. There's always a random chance to get dismounted entirely even while flying, and afterwards you are slowed for a few seconds. In some areas you have to sort of think of how you wish to proceed. It was intentionally designed to work that way. Notice how you don't get heavy when not mounted? The only thing about the Heavy status that I really don't care for is the 20sec duration. That seems a little long given that lv41 mobs can essentially spam it on you with their .5 sec cast time.

I hate it too, but I think it should be left as is. In XI we couldn't get agro when on our Chocobo. But they were all rentals unless you raised a semi-lame one and could only ride it on a timer. I'd much rather be vulnerable on my chocobo and have instant constant access to it, and all our other fun mounts.
If you are getting "heavy" while on your chocobo, you are not selecting the best route. If you insist on running in front of the faces of monster you deserve what you get. Think of the monsters a orange cones, and you are running an obstacle course, kind of like the timed driving competition thru a set of cones. You want to get to your destination in as short a route as possible but not while running over the cones which will incur penalties. It is a fun mini game, and the heavy is just a time penalty really not much to cry about. Now if they can only have sanctions chocobo races with gates and check points in the open world and race for prizes.

Let us meld "Chocobo Down Materia" (yes it exists) to the mount's armor. That has Heavy Resistance +2 attributes and can be used to lower the amount of time we have Heavy on us or resist the next wave of several other mobs casting heavy on us until the initial cast has worn off. I would be cool with that.
