    This thread brings up so many fun ideas lol! While mounted:

    -At Thanalan your mount can get really thirsty so you will have to find some waterway to quench its thirst or it starts to slow down/lose HP.
    -At the Shroud your mount can get poisoned or rooted by all the vegetation so you need to be careful where you run
    -At La Noscea...well that place is beautiful so no effects

    How about just making an "I've killed your kind so many times that there is no way you are killing me token or something."? You could even make it part of a Relic upgrade or something. Make it so after you kill a certain mob 1k times (or even more) with whatever weapon, armor, etc. that those won't agro you anymore.

    How about leaving it as it is. Not everything needs to be face-roll. The open world is already kind of neutered and silly given that you can run thru places that you have no business of being in. A little bit of threat from the open world is NOT a problem.

    After all the criticism the overworld gets for being inconsequential, this just seems amusing to me. Last I checked, monsters don't really care about whether or not they annoy you.

    It comes across like "Ugh, Final Fantasy IV, they totally should have put an option to turn off random encounters. I'm just trying to get from the whale ship to the crystal palace and don't need to fight any of these monsters and it's a waste of my time. They aren't a threat, they're just an annoyance."

    Somehow I can't agree with the implication of "opting out" of the overworld altogether, given we already have teleport and automated-mount mechanics that half-way do that anyway. Throw in being able to queue up for dungeons from anywhere, and I'm forced to wonder how much more streamlined this game really needs to be.

    It is fun to work around the monster than can potentially "heavy/slow" you. You need to look and see how to route around them, that in itself is a fun mini game. Seeing how you can sneak around their butt and backside, or using elevation to jump over them so they don't notice, those are all fun aspects. The annoyance is the penalty for screwing up, or would rather be completely dead so the threat is more real? And it is good that even high level players have are not immune, not everything needs to be a face-roll all the time.

    I'm not against the mechanic itself. However, duration of the heavy needs to be scaled based on character level vs monster level. It's kind of silly getting 30 seconds of heavy from a lvl 41 mob on a lvl 50. Their attacks generally don'e even overcome autorefresh. Add in the fact that those mobs can be killed in 3 ws: i.e. 7.5 seconds. Either scaling the duration or perhaps introducing a mechanic so that heavy drops when the monster that applied it dies would be beneficial. in that way....want to get rid of the pesky heavy? kill the mob and move on.

    I get annoyed that heavy can be re-applied while mounted, so when I have 2 seconds left I can be hit with it AGAIN and it resets the debuff.
