[PS4] Second machine user can't play

    Hello

I purchased a PS4, created a PSN account and then downloaded two games via PSN Store. One of which is FF14. I purchased this game for my girlfriend to play; but since my PSN account had the credit card attached to it. I bought it under my user.

However, now when she tries to access the game from her PSN user; she is given an error about needing some sort of promo code. I looked at the receipt emailed to me, there is nothing in there resembling a promo code. Though, even if there was one - there isn't actually an option to enter a promo-code. The only option is to back, back out of the game.

Ive tried googling to no avail. I just get results about migration from ps3 to ps4. Which doesn't apply to me. I haven't owned a PS since PS2.

I did see one person mention the second user needs to go to the PSN store and download it under her user, essentially activating it under her account. When i tried that it just wants her to pay for it again.

At this point I'm under the impression the second user is DRM'd out of the game. Which really really really really upsets me. As i have no interest in playing this game. Sure she can just use my user for it. But then, her needing access to my PSN account takes away other features... such as facial recognition log ins.

Thanks for reading this long winded explanation. I didn't want to leave any details out.

The game can only be played by the psn user who purchased it. You have to buy two copies of the game to play under two different accounts.

    That's insanity and completely unacceptable.

    Can anyone else confirm?

hopefully Sony has as good of CS as MS and allows me to refund. I know just one guy doesn't make a different but I refuse to support a greedy developer.

Why would it be unacceptable? It's like this and always been. You should have researched prior the purchase. It's up to the game developer to decide if they'll allow multiply accounts on the same PS device to use the game or not, that fact that many do doesn't mean that all must do so. There are other games which works the same way. You'll not get refund either so unfortunatelly need to purchase game again or play it on the account on which it was purchased.

This ^ and also to make it so that multiple psn accounts could use the game would be discrimination towards PC users who wouldn't have that option.

and op: the dev's aren't greedy. It's a subscription based game - account limitations are obvious. More fool you for not understanding this.

I've never ever purchased a console game limited to one user. So yes it's a completely absurd isolated complication. in fact I don't think I have any PC games limited to one user. One machine sure... User no.

So tell me... Where would one find this magical info to research prior to purchase? If every game I have ever purchased on any system has never been limited how am I the fool for not knowing? Is there a magic database that gives user limitation and drm restricted games?

If it's subscription based then more than one user shouldn't be an issue. You know if they are getting subscription fees from both users.

If Sony is anything like MS they'll refund me.

Thanks for the typical smug forum responses.

Not being smug - and it's not nice insulting people for giving you information you don't like - but virtually every MMO is tied to an account and a password; but of course you can give that info to someone else at your own risk (though probably breaking the EULA by doing so).

I agree that it would be nice to be able to transfer ownership of the game to another person via customer support but I guess they don't usually do this as one measure to try and stop people selling accounts which I think is also against most EULAs. However, gifting prior to use of the software should be allowed - so if you haven't played it on your account yet they may be able to help.

I'm interested in your thought on MS - I have always had really poor support from them.

Just play on your own account and tell her to buy her own copy with her own money. Then it has cost you nothing and your gf can worry about if she wants to spend the extra money buying a video game for herself.
