    Welcome to the game, Vivi.

It is the Lv.10 class quest (From the Arcanist Guild: Tactical Planning) you have to finish to change classes.

The Lv.15 story quest (The Lominsan Envoy) opens up access to airship travel which will let you travel to Ul'dah and the thaumaturge guild.

You will spend some more time leveling up thaumaturge from Lv.1, but you get a 50% xp bonus when leveling any combat class lower than your highest one.

I would wait until at least Lv.10 before pursuing any crafting classes. Unlock guildleves and use them to quickly level up your craft/gather classes (For Lominsans: Leves of Swiftperch). Get as many up to Lv.15 as possible to unlock cross-class abilities and good/excellent conditions. These will help you craft hq items and increase your xp gain while minimizing material costs and crystal shards expended as well. Later on, at Lv.42, the money cost for these will become less important and you will have access to more nq mats.

Be sure to do the initial levequests in every aetheryte point you come across. You will be required to finish those initial levequests to unlock all leves in that area. This will help you with xp and minimize backtracking later on for crafting/gathering.

BTW, you gain 1 Leve for every 4 hours, for 6 for every 24 hour period. You can store up to 100 of them. Try to use them before you max out. They are a great source for free crafting materials, gil, and xp.

There are several ways to quickly level up to 15.
When solo, do the hunting log and FATEs from lv.1 to Lv.10. Equip AERO on to your thaumaturge as an instant-cast ability if other players are killing the enemies too fast for you to get credit. After Lv.10, you can run guildhests, guildleves, and FATEs in Aleport (West La Noscea). Do as many quests as you feel you need to keep your sanity.

An alternative is to leash yourself with a lv.50 WHM (not party, but have them help you). The WHM casts REGEN on you to keep you alive and you will hit every enemy you can with AERO (or some other instant-cast ability). Enemies will aggro on to the WHM who finishes groups off with HOLY. Since you two are not partied and you initiated the fights, you will get full xp from these kills. This is probably the fastest and most mindless way to reach Lv.17 and unlock roulettes, assuming you don't spend too much time looking for the WHM.

    Good luck and have fun.
