I looked at my network hops to the server running without VPN and it was horrible. Dropped packets very bad at one particular node owned my level3 and it was enough to make me turn on battleping. I have it running and was able to bypass level3 crappy routes and was fine the rest of my gaming evening. Not sure how level3 having a problem is my fault or my ISP since I have comcast. And if it was truly my isp like Kewitt suggested than using battleping wouldn't help a bit and I would still have a crappy connection but I don't. I have emailed level3 the node in question and asked them to check it out.

    ae-10-10.car2.Montreal2.Level3.net
    (4.69.153.86)

That was the node for me that was dropping packets and timing out.

One thing to note and I learned this since using battleping, not everyone uses the same route to the game servers but I was under the impression that eventually the routes would merge at the data center and become the same eventually. But seeing as battleping takes my packet and sends it from chicago to la and back to chicago again before going to montreal it must not be the case. They must take a different route to montreal than level3. I wish I knew how or which one and I would beg Comcast to help me bypass level3 isp all together to save some money but I can't. Funny thing is comcast and battleping both come to chicago before heading up to Montreal. But the path they both take to SE servers is not entirely the same. Somehow from chicago it gets all different and the Comcast packets get level3. Battleping gets whoever IDK. But whatever they get it is working.
