Why do the Egis appearance look awful and unimpressive

I agree with the OP to some degree. A smn should summon stuff. However, SE chose to make the affliction warlock (world of warcraft) which has a pet.

I wish they actually look like SMNs where they summon one of their primals to do 1 or 2 attacks, it disappers and then summons the next primal which would be part of their rotation.

Now it is just a pet job which is not wrong per se. I think it is because it's the exact same job another MMO has (the way it plays) so it comes of very, very lazy.

I was really looking forward to SMN in FFXIV. I was disappointed when I unlocked it but decided to take it to max anyway, just to give it a shot. They really did seem to rip off affliction warlock(WoW)/Spiritmaster(Aion) which is unfortunate for me because I had already played those so heavily, I was looking forward to a more traditional summoner role.

Anyways, yeah the Egi pets are pretty ugly with little detail but I don't see that changing anytime soon. Just one of those things you need to learn to deal with I guess!

They look like they do, because that's what SE wanted them to look like. You'll just have to get over it and move on with your life. It isn't healthy to obsess over something you have no control over. SE may take on player feedback when it comes to designing future egis, but it would deviate from their development plan to go back over the current ones (new graphics, animations etc).

Just deal with it.

Posting a thread every day about it isn't going to change anything. It's getting to the point that I may start reporting these threads as some kind of forum harassment.

(I actually like the way they are designed. They fit with the lore behind the job).

Same reason why male Miqote markings not being able to be removed was justified with lore instead of making them customizable, easier to write something quick for limitations than actually work towards fixing an issue, regardless if a couple don't see it as one.

Well, the devs are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they had full blown primals, people would bitch that they weren't sticking to lore and that they are totally messing up the whole notion that a tonne of crystals and lives are needed to summon them. And since they decided to go the lore-friendly route, now people bitch that they aren't impressive enough (despite the fact that you're only summoning the ESSENCE of the primal, not the primal itself). There really is no way for them to win.

Actually it has zero basis in lore whatsoever.

The premise of primals isn't that you need a ton of crystals and/or lives to summon them, it's that they're stronger the more of those things they have. We know this because in the main story quest both Ifrit and Titan are summoned by the cries of only 3 of their respective beast tribe members, none of which had any crystals in their possession that we know of. The only lore that exists to justify the egis is the lore they added specifically for summoner quests, in other words AFTER they decided to go the egi route.
