    Contemplating Release

I've gotten to the point that I don't really have faith in the direction SE is going and am better than half convinced that I'm not going to renew my subscription when it runs out. The content that has been added recently all seems to be like Coil that requires military drill team precision to clear and, as someone with less than average reflexes, I'm feeling that SE is making a game for other people. With the end-game content requiring either hours and hours of practice that I don't have to give or reflexes that I don't have, my motivation to chase things like Zodiac weapons and leveling up a new Job evaporates.

Wow, character limits are really stupid in this forum.

And, with new casual content like Sightseeing requiring reflexes I don't have (yes, jump puzzles are beyond me. Really, I'm just not that well coordinated) I'm finding I don't have any reason to log in other than checking my auctions so I can hope to get enough gil to be able to afford personal housing. However, given how out-of-thier-freaking-minds expensive FC housing was, my trust in SE to make personal housing worth the time I'd need to invest has evaporated.

Do yourself a favor and stop playing MMO's.

    What Songi said lol.

90% of video games require reflexes to be even slightly on par with the average gamer. Even Tetris for crying out loud. Just, don't play games anymore. It's not Square Enix's fault that you're disabled in the reflex aspect.

That's not so true. it's just that the current gen like these types of games. JRPGs and SLG games require thinking more then reflexes.

Unfortunately MMOs are going in the reflex direction nowadays, different from the old-days.

If you don't have any serious medical conditions causing this, I'd recommend investing the time you would have been playing in to some sport or martial arts, and you will find your reflexes improve. Then come back but play in balance with physical activities.

Another thing to look as is whether it's you have connection issues. With a good connection, below average reflexes should easily be enough for this game, it's mostly pattern learning (which martial arts can help improve too ).

Songi seems a tad unduly harsh, but the reality of it is that if you're unable/unwilling to work on your reflexes and coordination, then this is probably good advice. MMOs have been moving in this direction for a long time. With the advent of avoidable damage, it has been necessary to up the ante with stricter timing and consequences in order to provide challenge. While I agree that there are other ways to preserve this challenge without imposed 2 second flight sessions, but all we can really do is enjoy what we can of the reality of things as they are and communicate what we want to see hoping that this becomes the next reality.

Maybe it's just not for you? Reflexes have been required in this game since the addition of red targeting telegraphs. It's not a new thing. Sure, it's more likely to one shot you if you miss a quick telegraph in higher level content, but the basic "dodge stuff or suffer" mentality has been about since launch. Might be best to cut your losses since everything battle related is going to require you to react or dodge. It's not necessarily a bad thing either. I can't play first person shooters because I suck at those.
