Infusing Shield and Sword

It is unfair to us Paladins that we need to fuse first 4 Alexandrates to enable to fuse higher grade materia to each of our weapons. It's double the effort than the others. Please see this SE.

How is it unfair? You totally bypass certain grades of Materia. Takes 4 Savage Might I before it requires Savage Might III for the shield and you're able to upgrade them independently of one another.

Levi EX weapons sucked for us because we needed two mirrors, this is nothing like that. Nobody's forcing you to do the quest, if you think it's unfair don't do it.

Why are you in such a rush to go to more expensive materia? Tier II materia only give you +1 progress as well, likely Tier III/IV will only give you +1 progress. Be blessed that we get free 100%s for longer than other players.

So can I cry that is unfair for me as a BRD to only have one bow and I can't equip another thing in my off-hand, like stronger arrows or something (like diablo)?

You have two items, therefore two infusing.
IF the item were Curtana Sword/Holy Shield, as a pack (therefore, no off-hand stuff, just 'weapon set'), you would have to make only one. But then you couldn't have different shields

Not sure how this is unfair. My 8th parry on my sword was tier 2, so 7 teir 1 on the sword and 4 on the shield = 11, which is what the other classes have to hit on their weapons to get to the tier 2 materias. (for 44 capped stats).

I don't even understand how OP's argument could be considered unfair. 1 materia = 1 infusion. regardless of the grade.

The more low tier materia you can do, the less gil it will cost you in the end.

That said, assuming you pick only 2 stats each for sword and shield, and cap at least 1 of them per weapon...

You will probably have spent just as much (mb prices notwithstanding) as any other novus player.

actually this is a good thing, you want to delay using higher grade materia as much as possible seeing any infusion will only yield +1 stat regardless of grade. So it's actually cheaper for PLDs to infuse their novuses.
