So Diabolos (The Boss)

Actually we know of one other Elder Primal thanks to the egi version of him we see in the last summoner quest : Belias.

Zodiark may also count. Though Zodiark is actually the antithesis to Hydaelyn more than anything else. But traditionally Zodiark was considered one of the most powerful Summons in the Final Fantasy series. And Zodiark is actually were Belias gets his power I do believe.

Yeah in Lost City I really enjoyed doing battle with Diabolos. His ultimate attack as we would transpose between voids as to avoid getting murdered is just awesome.

Don't you have enough time to open both doors by yourself if you run to the first one right when he does Noctoshield?

You don't really have to mark doors either since you just have to take a look when you get sucked in, the symbols repop.

Um i don't think ifrit, titan, garuda, leviathan, moogle mog, shiva and ramuh are elder primals; they are lesser primals iirc. The elder primals that we know of so far are: Bahamut and Odin. Both of whom were sealed away until they were freed by the calamity. Personally the primal I am waiting to be released is Phoenix, you all know you want him. They did him so much injustice in FFXI...

Also, a fight against the elemental of nihility would be badass... I loved the whm storyline from 1.0!

Regardless of what counts as a Primal vs. an Elder Primal, it doesn’t change the fact that the entities recognized as Primals in the game at the moment, with the exception of Garuda, have the element of longevity within the Final Fantasy series. Heck, even Carbuncle has been around since at least Final Fantasy V and has appeared in virtually every Final Fantasy since then, with the exception of VII, X, and XII (though he did appear in Revenant Wings and both Tactic’s games). And the Faeries have been in 2 Final Fantasy Games and 1 Spin-Offs (though it was only a Summon in 2 of these 3 games).

Point is, Diabolos has only been in ONE game, not counting MMO’s. Garuda has never been in any Final Fantasy Game EXCEPT MMO’s. And Siren has been in TWO games aside from MMO’s, and never once in an MMO as a Summon. These three Summons just do not have the staying power of the other Summons. Though Garuda has the same kind of Fetish bait that Shiva has had for ages, so that is lending a boost to her staying power. Siren however only recently got introduced to a medium that made the fact that she is wearing a bikini obvious, instead of making her bikini look like it is actually… um… yeah….

Not as a summon, but she's frequently been an enemy.

On Diabolos, is there actually any reason he can't return later? In XI he was effectively the final boss of Pso'Xja, only to return later. They could do a similar thing with XIV and just have him return later. Would actually be nice if Conjurer gets him, since he is tied to the Amdapori and White Mages, and Conjurer could always end up Conjuring him. Doesn't so much fit with White Mage, but Conjurer could always get a second Job that fits.

On a related note I would love to see the Odins, DIablos, and Siren's becoming summons for the Summoner class one day.

You know... I wonder why people only ever mention Diabolos and Siren, what about Atomos?

Diabolos and Siren at least get shine as final bosses, Atomos is just a pathetic subboss for Crystal Tower, completely unexplained... His appearance in 1.23b is still unexplained too, he was just there to give us an end of the world event, I guess... Really wish they'd just gone with XIs system of calling the existing ones Cavernous Maw, and later we could face the real Atomos, explaining the Cavernous Maws from 1.23b and Crystal Tower... Instead Atomos is just... Meh...

He could have been an absolutely amazing boss, just like FFV. Something like a mix between Demon Wall, Decaying Gourmand, and Catoblepas; He targets a party member, and they start getting pulled into his maw every time he does a move, like Catoblepas he has a new target you can destroy to prevent that, if you fail to prevent it, he eats you like the Decaying Gourmand and you die instantly and get forced to Return like falling off at Demon Wall.

I would love trials for Behemoth, Odin, Diablos and Siren! Maybe for the relic quest down the line we'll have more trials. I like those.
