Christ Almighty, you guys make a lot of wild assumptions. Not that I'd expect much more on the official forums, being that it's a huge cesspool of stupidity and attention-mongering. But, it's nice to see not everybody is this way.

I'm not quitting, the post was just a way to vent. Yes, I've played the game. Yes, I've played v1.18, or else I wouldn't be complaining about it. No, I had no idea Selbina was predominantly Japanese. My original character is on Palamecia, so I could always go back there.

Everybody needs to take a chill pill. The OP already took his, albeit not soon enough.

Selbina is not predominately JP. Those people from Rabanstre just want to lure people to their server because they are jealous that we not only have one of the largest overall populations but also by far the best server community.

As for the problems you ran into, again... the dungeon just came out please have some patience. I really think you are blowing the problem out of proportion, many people haven't even done the dungeon yet and yeah some who have are going to try it first with people they know that is to be expected. There are pick up groups forming for them as well though, and lots of social shells that recruit openly. Triple Spark is not a social shell, but I also have a social shell myself for fellow late night players who play during the span of 7pm and 7am PST, and there are dozens of others catering to people of all timezones.

I had hoped this update would be awesome, but it isn't shaping up to be anything like that. I'm disappointed that group-only content was added and the community quickly expresses their latent exclusiveness held over from FFXI. Nobody does anything outside their LS, or invites anybody outside their LS, and nobody has any openly recruiting linkshells, so anybody in a small LS or completely without one is screwed out of content and the ability to continue through the Grand Companies line of quests.

Worst of all, is that I can't even seek. I have to repeatedly shout, which I'm sure annoys everybody.

I can't imagine how this game will ever pull off a grand re-opening with this cold-shoulder culture.

I never understand statements like this. Why is it one or the other? One game is pay to play, the other is completely free (after software purchase). I play both. I have 8 level 90 jobs on my main character, several full sets of Empyrean +2 armor, and a level 85 Almace. FFXI is a great game and I still love it.

I play FFXIV for a change of pace though, and for what it offers it's a lot of fun. It's still free to play though, and aside from mechanics changes from this update, it's still pretty much the same game it was during open beta, so expecting too much from it at this point is pretty derp. This game is probably going to take another half year~ of updates to finally be in a playable state, such that SE can finally start charging for it. In the meantime a lot will be changed.

Also, people act like any changes implemented are set in stone. Think of it as a pendulum. SE's goal is to keep things more or less centered. If the pendulum swings too far in one direction (unlimited cures, overpowered ARC), they may push the pendulum all the way to the other side to see its polar opposite. Eventually things will center themselves so that gameplay is balanced. Or so we hope at least.

when we have people like the OP that don't even read the patch notes and just rage over every patch, yeah..of course we are like this. The OP obviously hasn't even logged into the game since the update nor has he read the patch notes =) Dude doesn't deserve to play the game.

Get a linkshell if you want to do things as a group. Everyone is trying out new things tonight, it was the same in XI update day no one partyed there either.
