Right back to FFXI

I took the thread title "Right back to XI" & post to mean the game's reverting back to some of the negatives that were in XI, not that the OP's quitting and going back to XI.

I had hoped this update would be awesome, but it isn't shaping up to be anything like that. I'm disappointed that group-only content was added and the community quickly expresses their latent exclusiveness held over from FFXI. Nobody does anything outside their LS, or invites anybody outside their LS, and nobody has any openly recruiting linkshells, so anybody in a small LS or completely without one is screwed out of content and the ability to continue through the Grand Companies line of quests.

Worst of all, is that I can't even seek. I have to repeatedly shout, which I'm sure annoys everybody.

I can't imagine how this game will ever pull off a grand re-opening with this cold-shoulder culture.

sorry you don't get everything handed to you...try forming a group and talking to people.

it is a moot point anyway as no one can even get in to play.

Ul'Dah is filled, there are people running across the map. In all directions doing different things. Talking, and exploring. This game isn't dying. This is the new breath the game has been given. And it's working.

Seriously. It's *obvious* that people are going to do the dungeons with their linkshell mates first.

Do the new, supposedly challenging content with people I know and trust? Or do it with random strangers?

me and my linkshell are having a BLAST.. parties actually have to look at their setup.. tanks have to do their jobs.. healers have to do their jobs.. its freaking AWESOME.. loving the changes.. keep em coming!

I hear ya. I particularly like how linkshells have become exclusive as well, requiring that you permanently leave every other linkhshell that you're a member of. My server is just as bad--just a few LSs that dominate, and everyone else is left with LSs that consist of irregular players or people hopping from inactive LS to inactive LS until they finally leave the game. I've met one or two of the big LSs that will let me join them from time to time if there's an opening, but I mostly play solo or occasionally get enough people in my LS to do stuff (maybe once very month or two). Often, I form my parties by meeting people in Behest.

I'd hate to see you go, but definitely see your point. Personally, I'm fine playing solo. No, I won't get to do much endgame content, but there's so many jobs to level and there will eventually be so much stuff to do that I'm sure it will keep me around for years.

Christ Almighty, you guys make a lot of wild assumptions. Not that I'd expect much more on the official forums, being that it's a huge cesspool of stupidity and attention-mongering. But, it's nice to see not everybody is this way.

I'm not quitting, the post was just a way to vent. Yes, I've played the game. Yes, I've played v1.18, or else I wouldn't be complaining about it. No, I had no idea Selbina was predominantly Japanese. My original character is on Palamecia, so I could always go back there.

Selbina may have lot's of jp but right now it have the most players but then again the party size is 4/8 so having 100+members in a linkshell is really pointless.
