    Stuck with Carpentry

So, I've bit the bullet, got the crafts i wanted to 50, and now skipping off to get Byregots Blessing. (Yeah, I didn't get it already, more fool me huh ? xD )

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is gear related (as far as i know i've made hq full set armors/accessories), but I'm stuck at lvl 17! The grind is insane. Not to mention for some reason basic synth is doing very little towards any recipes' progress.

Level 20 and I'll be a bit more comfortable, as i'll be able to add my must haves for crafting.
At the moment my cross class useage is:
Tricks of the Trade, Hasty Touch and Manipulation. I've got most cross class skills except armorer and blacksmith. Is there any other setup and rotations i could use to help out? Oh, also at level 17 I've completed all the recipes I can up to now, usually that tided me over to lvl 20 on other classes, but i'm stuck with another 3 levels to go and nothing but grind. Lol, any advice appreciated guys!

Carpentry is no different than any other class; recipes at level 8 require just as much synthesis and quality to complete as recipes of the same level in other classes. This means that if basic synthesis isn't doing as much as you expect, then one of two things must be true: Either you don't have enough gear with Craftsmanship on it (don't forget your off-hand tool!), or it was just as bad at this level on other classes, and you've just forgotten how bad it was.

There's rarely a "need" to grind. Leves will level you up fast, especially if you focus on HQing lower-level Leves rather than NQing higher level leves. If you've run out of level allowances, yeah, you might need to grind - but if you do, grind lumber. Save the HQ lumber you grind in order to more easily HQ items for sale and for leves, and sell the NQ lumber for higher-level crafters to buy who don't care about HQ vs NQ ingredients.

At your level, too, I might suggest swapping out Manipulation in exchange for Steady Hand II. That extra 10% success rate is very noticable when spamming Hasty Touch at low levels to make up for your small CP pool. Master's Mend will suffice for now.

Never, ever, use Hasty Touch without Steady Hand 2.

Manipulation is pretty good, but if you can make use of it, try Waste Not. the extra 20 CP can be used for another Steady hand or something

Make use of GC provisioning, and do some leves. Also make use of GC exp boost, drink a milk, and churn out HQ stuff

cheers. started doing level 20 leves for ash masks, can hq them 100%. managed to throw another skill into my cross class abilities so life is a little easier. random note though, what the hell is with the price for this craft. i've blown through about 300k in a couple hours and that's only buying elm logs and higher , and including crystal costs lol.

Trick with any DoH *grind*, use rested bonus as much as possible (50%), get the engineering book from your GC (50%), shoot to craft highest level "stack" item available to you so it doesn't take up your inventory space, and aim for highest quality score (not HQ product) as much as possible. When done right, each craft you give you 250-300% exp, which can easily take you to the next level within a few crafts at low levels with each craft giving you 2-3K exp. HTH.

    Congrats on your progress Divine!

I hate to say it but the solution for your high material cost is to level the gathering classes. I found that when I leveled gathering at the same pace as the crafts, the materials I needed at that level could be gathered by miner / botanist of slightly lower level. I still usually (except when lazy) gather all of my mats, including shards / crystals / clusters. Helps to be a cheap skate. The only materials i regularly purchased was fish. I avoided that job and finally leveled it after everything else was done.

Hey Waeksyn. Thanks for the congrats!

Yeah, i was speaking with a friend, and he advised the same thing, but mentioned to make it a little less grindy feeling to go level my botanist up to level 25 (the level my carpenter is now) and work up every 5 levels, keeping them more or less even.

Aiming for the Provider/Builder of the Realm achievements, i wanna be one of those "zomg look at that dudes' crafts!" kinda person, and i LOVE the crafting in this game! I'm seriously excited about that workshop stuff xD

With my lvl 50 alchemists, goldsmith and weaver i was making a lot of money, but now i'm blowing it on carpenter, with no funds to remake/sell stuff from those crafts. so yup! here i come gathering (groaaaan! lmao, i had a lvl 42 miner on an old character, i'm dreading this!)

I went and leveled Miner and Botanist to 50 first. So if I have the time to gather, I'm self-sufficient on materials other than seafood. And so I am avoiding the seafood and having to buy the fish-based oils and such, but hey.

I have Fisher to L22 but I get twitchy just sitting around casting a line over and over.

You will need FSH for your CUL level 50 food, but lucky enough, they aren't lvl 50 fish.
