so far l have obtained 2 alexandrite and save up a few savage aim materia I and II and IV, but the scroll doesn't let me meld any savage aim materia IV, but only materia I. so l melded "savage aim materia I" so far and l can't meld any higher materia, any help/advice on what am l suppose to do to be able to meld higher level materia ?

Keep melding level 1s until it asks for level 2s.
Presumably it will also ask for level 3s and 4s at some point but you have to follow the order laid out.

to hit the 31 determination you need like

1-7 = I
8-14 = II
15-21 = III
22-31 = IV

thats how it -seems- to work

that's one point something mil gil minimum if all melds are successful, but it won't be

You do know that there's no guaranteed way to produce a IV right? Even with i70, you have a low chance. You will get IIIs almost every time.

Sure you could do it for free but the time sink would be horrendous. Worse than Novus itself.

The Novus itself isn't a Time Sink. In fact creating a Novus weapon probably only takes a good half an hour. The Time sink is getting the materials to make the weapon in the first place. So if I want to spend my time sink making a profit while working towards my Novus weapon, I am by all means entitled to do so.

If you on the other hand would rather spend a couple million gil, and go bankrupt to achieve the same goal. By all means feel free, I am sure the crafters who made the materia you are buying will thank you for giving them your hard earned money.

Okay, I admit I hadn't accounted for the 75 Alexandrites. What I was referring to was the actual updating of the Sphere Scroll. Sorry for the confusion.
