Getting 90Ks all day. Spoke with ISP and got nowhere. Traced the route and, sure enough, I'm routing through iWeb and that's where the issue seems to be. I'm going to be in Montreal in a few weeks. I should look this place up and go have a chat with them

Alright...all kidding aside I have been disconnected 5 times in the last 1/2 hour. This has got to stop.

If you saw i-web in the route, you may not have been tracing to a game server. I hope you weren't using the EIDOS web server IP (184.107.107.176). If so, that is NOT a game server IP, it is a web server hosted on i-web lines and not Ormuco. The Canada based servers for the NA/EU region all start with 199. Need to be using that IP that FFXIV is connecting to while you are in game--can find it by running resmon from your Run/Search box while logged fully into the game and expanding the network/TCP section.

I've not been having constant 90k's, but probably about once an hour. Only started maybe a month ago or less, and I'd never 90k'd before then that I can remember.

Just putting in yet another complaint. Looks like I'm not alone, for what it's worth.
Playing on Odin from Melbourne, Australia on PS4.
The game is unplayable. I can hardly get 3 minutes of quests done before I get kicked out with a 90000 error. While I've had a couple of times with bad disconnect issues, the last week or two has by far and away been the worst.
I am really, really hoping Square-Enix can get this sorted out real quick, because my finger is hovering over the "unsubscribe" button.
I really don't want to unsubscribe from the game. I love it. But there's no point in paying for a product that simply doesn't work.

PSN has been borked off and on ever since the PS4 console launched. On top of the normal peering fiasco that plagues us in the states that our ISP's need to fix with their partners like Tata, Level3, and Cogentco, Sony is having a lot of issues that they need to address as well. XIV relies on the PSN connection in the background (persistent license checks and crap). If that goes down, so does your game.

Here is my current path to my game server:

Green is my network that I control, and is solid. Yellow is my ISP which occassionally has issues, Red is the Teir1 provider they partner with that carries me into and across Canada and where most of the problems are detected, Orange is SE's ISP, and at times we have detected latency issues there, and finally blue is SE's network. THe most common points of failure have been either at or between the peeering interconnects at hops 6 and 13, which is where data is handed onto/off of the Tier1 ISP's transit. There have also been issues detected at the hand-off into SE's network, but typically it has been a round a 200ms spike---not the 3 seconds+ that causes packet losses/retransmits in route.

So, without properly analyzing all the players involved, it's not exactly fair to put all the blame just on SE. Just like my history with a host of other games from various publishers, I had problems int the past, got my ISP to investigate and address my issues and now my gameplay is dramatically improved (atm, newr flawless by comparison to Beta4 through early launch), so it isn't ALL on SE. A lot of this has been covered in other threads. Here is a fairly recent one where I posted links to data on PSN and some other popular web services (copy/pasta follows in case no one bothers to visit it-may want to visit the source for the PSN data, a lot of problems logged there this past week):
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2213420

In many (perhaps even the majority) of the cases, it has basically boiled down to issues with the interconnects between the various ISP's involved in getting your data back and forth to the game servers. There has been an ongoing issue for several years trying to combat port congestion at these exchanges. The ISP's are basically not updating their peering agreements to accommodate the big increases in network traffic. Lean on your ISP's to investigate the issues upstream from your local connection. Need to push through to tier3 or higher to get it addressed. The tier1/tier2 guys you are dealing with when you call in or that come to your house to test your lines can do nothing about it--it needs to go further up the chain.

copy/pasting passages from another thread on the issue:

It actually isn't perfect. Pathping hides some data that may indicate potential issues. Around Chicago on Level3 could have lag spikes that are not accurately demonstrated in this report. It is a VERY common issue with TWC these days, and it comes and goes at odd times:

snapshot updates periodically, based on source data from here:

You can see similar charts for lots of web servics (and even some ISP's) from the same site here:

If you actually take some time to track this stuff, you can see the ebb and flow of this problem all over the place.

At specific times of day, you may see the same areas line up with problems across multiple services because it is due to regional problems amongst the ISP's.

Again, the following snapshots are dynamic and will update periodically throughout the day. Source pages are linked below each.

I bought the PC version of FFXIV:ARR sometime in May, but, naturally, having a middle-line laptop at best right now leaves much to be desired, and running on the lowest settings involves massive FPS lag and risk of... Well... Melting my laptop, so I got the game on PS4 on June 26. The download took all day, and by the time I was finally ready to play it was 12:30AM, so I said I'd wait 'til the morning.

On Friday, June 27, the game was fine for a full eight hours of playing. I remained connected with no lag whatsoever.

I'm from Canada and I play on the Cactuar server, which I believe is based in America? I'm not entirely sure. My girlfriend plays on the same server, so that's the one I joined. Anyway, on the PC side, I am having no issues. But on the PS4 end, which I would rather play instead of on the PC, after those eight hours of perfect play, I began to bump into issues. Every ten - twenty minutes thereafter, I got a 90k error.

So I decided I'd take a break, and try again on Saturday. Saturday was worse. I'd get five to ten minutes of play with various lag spikes before the connection would finally crap out.

Sunday, June 29: Most of the issues on this day were, in fact, due to my router, as I was getting no more than 10kbps connection speeds on my PS4 when my ISP tells me I get up to 13mbps. Since then they've gone up to 1mbps, which is, unfortunately, normal. Still the same issue.

I woke up today, and everything on my PS4 works perfectly fine, EXCEPT my connection to FFXIV:ARR. This time, I'd be lucky to even get in-game. The launcher opens, the launcher WORKS, I can log in, launch the game, etc. etc., title screen launches, I press start, I can connect to the data center, and after that, my characters don't load, and I get booted off with an error 2002.

So, luckily, reading this thread, I don't feel it's a problem with my router or my ISP, but it's rather on the end of higher-up companies involving routers and whatnot.

However, I was somewhat offput by the fact that my PC has no issues, and nobody else from Cactuar has problems. Could this simply mean there's a bug to iron out on Sony's end on the PSN?

But yeah, this thread most certainly helped me diagnose my issues; or at least reassure me that I'm not the only one, and it can't be helped by me or my ISP.

I hadn't played at all in the last few days. I logged in today to see if the constantly-getting-booted-out-of-the-game problem had fixed itself (it usually did in the past) but it hadn't. I was only playing about 5 minutes and got disconnected.
I've decided I'm going to wait until the next update, which I think is just a day or two away. If the game isn't working by then, I'm very sad to say that I'll be unsubscribing from Final Fantasy XIV. I really don't want to. But as I posted above, there is no point paying an ongoing cost for a product that simply doesn't work.
