I bought the PC version of FFXIV:ARR sometime in May, but, naturally, having a middle-line laptop at best right now leaves much to be desired, and running on the lowest settings involves massive FPS lag and risk of... Well... Melting my laptop, so I got the game on PS4 on June 26. The download took all day, and by the time I was finally ready to play it was 12:30AM, so I said I'd wait 'til the morning.
On Friday, June 27, the game was fine for a full eight hours of playing. I remained connected with no lag whatsoever.
I'm from Canada and I play on the Cactuar server, which I believe is based in America? I'm not entirely sure. My girlfriend plays on the same server, so that's the one I joined. Anyway, on the PC side, I am having no issues. But on the PS4 end, which I would rather play instead of on the PC, after those eight hours of perfect play, I began to bump into issues. Every ten - twenty minutes thereafter, I got a 90k error.
So I decided I'd take a break, and try again on Saturday. Saturday was worse. I'd get five to ten minutes of play with various lag spikes before the connection would finally crap out.
Sunday, June 29: Most of the issues on this day were, in fact, due to my router, as I was getting no more than 10kbps connection speeds on my PS4 when my ISP tells me I get up to 13mbps. Since then they've gone up to 1mbps, which is, unfortunately, normal. Still the same issue.
I woke up today, and everything on my PS4 works perfectly fine, EXCEPT my connection to FFXIV:ARR. This time, I'd be lucky to even get in-game. The launcher opens, the launcher WORKS, I can log in, launch the game, etc. etc., title screen launches, I press start, I can connect to the data center, and after that, my characters don't load, and I get booted off with an error 2002.
So, luckily, reading this thread, I don't feel it's a problem with my router or my ISP, but it's rather on the end of higher-up companies involving routers and whatnot.
However, I was somewhat offput by the fact that my PC has no issues, and nobody else from Cactuar has problems. Could this simply mean there's a bug to iron out on Sony's end on the PSN?
But yeah, this thread most certainly helped me diagnose my issues; or at least reassure me that I'm not the only one, and it can't be helped by me or my ISP.
