Is Upgrading To iLvl 100 Gear Really Worth It?

Im a dragoon and I currently have a full i90 set. I was thinking of upgrading to the i100 Weathered gear with Soldiery stones but theres only a slight increase in defense. For a dragoon is the upgrade worth it?

The defense isn't the only reason you're upgrading. You're also upgrading to increase the damage you do since all the ilvl 100 gear will give you more STR and secondary stats (skill speed, det, crit).

The ilvl 90 gear gives me more determination but less crit and the ilvl 100 gear gives me more crit but less determination. Both of these stats are important to dragoon so I don't know which one to choose.

simple answer is the i100 gear. The thing you have to keep in mind is that although you usually want to balance out the two stats (Crit & Det) sometimes you have to choose one over the other. The thing though is that you will almost always want to upgrade your gear to the next item level when it is available. Sometimes an odd piece of lower item level gear will have a better set of stats than what your current item level gear would have, or sometimes you just can't upgrade the item (as is the case with the item level 90 Rings when paired with the Item Level 100 Rings, and that holds true until the Item Level 110 Rings), but overall upgrading your gear is generally the best option

Focus on upgrading your Accuracy then Strength. i110 DRG gear is saturated with Skill Speed so you have to make due with whatchu got, or Pentameld the i90 HQ gloves boots and helm

But you get more STR which is even more important. That's your primary stat. Det and Crit are secondary stats and should never be placed ahead of your primary stat. Here is a helpful link:
