    Crossfire as of 14.6 drivers

So are there still issues with Crossfire in this game? I just hooked mine up and my frame rates took a dive unless I do the trick from a year ago of setting the profile to "fear.exe". Is there still no official support for Crossfire or is it just garbage support?

I assume you are talking about the amd crossfire? From my understanding that requires directx 11 which is still not here for this game.

I keep hearing people say that Crossfire doesn't work on dx9, but does that mean it doesn't work to its fullest or that it just doesn't work at all? I'm seeing around 50% usage on both cards.

Honestly not sure. My only info is:
Why doesn’t my DirectX® 9 game look better on AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics?
AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics was designed only for the latest DirectX® levels to allow AMD to focus resources on providing an optimal user experience on the latest graphics technologies. AMD encourages users to take advantage of these and numerous other innovations that have come to market recently by upgrading system hardware.

This appears to be the case. Super bummed out. Didn't know about this at all and bought a r9 295x2... mostly with this game in mind. It runs like a dream on a single 290x. But it only runs 1 GPU at full clockspeed in this game and with crossfire the other GPU is left at 300MHz even though it is at 100% utilization. Very very disappointed in Square Enix but not the least surprised. Disappointed in AMD, too--but mostly annoyed this game is still stuck on DirectX9. The very first time I loaded it up I saw the disclaimer about latest technologies and software and rolled my eyes a little when it then directed me to DL DX9c, since windows 8.1 does not include such old software.

I played FFXI for nearly 8 years and I think it is unlikely--knowing how this corporation works--that FFXIV will ever see DX10/11 implementation. You literally have to play this game on Nvidia if you want to use more than 1 GPU. Even Nvidia people are experiencing issues with things like 3Dvision on multiple displays because the software this game uses is out of date. You guys made this game twice? And it's still broken for modern high-end gaming hardware? Wow.

I am using Cross fire here with no issues. Both cards run at full clock speed and I see full uttilization on both GPUs. I've checked with CCC, GPU-Z, and MSI Afterburner. All show both GPUs being used. In a test I just ran in Lavender Beds with Full Screen mode and both GPUs I was 163 FPS, switching to border-less windows which disables crossfire it dropped to 87. This was with the game set to Maximum and at 1920x1080 on my main display (I also run in Eyfinity sometimes but find it distracting in this game).

    I am using :
    Driver Packaging Version: 14.20-140522a-172180E
    Catalyst Version: 14.6
    2D Driver Version: 8.01.01.1407
    Direct3D Version: 9.14.10.01044
    OpenGL Version: 6.14.10.12967
    Mantle Version: 9.1.10.0020
AMD Catalyst Control Center Version: 2014.0522.2157.37579

Hey cool, thanks for the response!
It seems clear to me, then, that the internal crossfire bridge on the dual GPU 295x2 is causing issues here. Most of my other applications work fine. In order to be able to use both of my card's GPUs at full speed in FFXIV with win8.1 I cannot install anything that monitors the GPU's... even Intel Rapid Storage or Samsung Magician will break CF. I'm sick of testing what breaks my crossfire support for the 295x2 but just ALT-TAB out of the game will do it from that point forward until I reinstall windows 8.1

Pretty much the most bizarre troubleshooting experience of my life.

It looks like I am running a setup close to yours. I am using two R9 290x bridging over the PCI bus. They were a mess until the last non-beta drivers in most games. I have no issues with Intel RTS but Samsung Software caused a number of issues.

One thing is I was doing some tuning today and found with the i7-4770K CPU I was able to get a performance improvement turning off Hyper Threading. I am using an ASUS Z87-Delux MB. If I enable Overclocking to 4.35GHz I get about 40 FPS more in maximum setting.

If you want to compare system specs other then the Two way GPU vs Dual GPU part to see if somethign stands out let me know.
