Wait, what? The relics are for the non-raiders. Why does the FF community think the definition of "hardcore" is simply "someone who spends lots of time online?" This place Is weird.

Q20: Will we ever be able to send tells from within an instanced area?
A20: While the feature can be implemented, it’s currently masked. It’s currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.
You have a point, because it really is casual when I think about it in that way. Just because a lot of the hardcore activities due tend to take forever, I think some others and myself tend to just associate the two together. Again, with another FFXI comparison, getting the Lu Shang's Fishing Rod required catching 10,000 moat carp which took me months to accomplish. Even though the task involved was easy and it was a solo thing that could be done at your own pace, I just still have a hard time labeling the goal itself as casual.

People don't seem to remember how things were in 2.0. A little reminder:
- "Selling Titan HM for all the gil you have fellow new player"
- "Titan HM party LFM be at least full DL"
- "Titan is too hard to kill because 90% of the server is useless and die"
- "Titan is too hard to down because lag"
- "Anyone willing to carry me through titan?"
There were a lot of complaints about the difficulty that the "A Relic Reborn" quest had. The feedback SE took from that was "the lower skillset way of getting a high level weapon is not as low, since a lot of players have issues beating the fights". Completing the new relic quests are not a way of saying "I'm so good at this game lolol L2P git gud" (There is high allagan for these matters). The quests are long because the feedback basically asked for it and to balance it with the higher skillset way of getting weapons (Source: Interview with Yoshi-P, he mentions why the Zodiac weapons are the way they are amongst other things here).

I think we need to change the word from hardcore to "dedicated". I think that words describes the relics better than "hardcore". Lu Shang's rod would be another good example of dedication. The task was easy to do (casual), but it took a lot of time (hardcore).
I mean think about it. Getting a relic in ARR is "easy" it just requires a lot of your time to finish. So to say someone is more dedicated than others to complete a relic would be the better term.

Yes, yes... dedication! That clears it up!

It's a massive grind in the same way any Korean MMO or other Asian grind game is a massive grind.
Not casual. Not skill based. Grind based.
Stop blaming casual. Stop blaming hard cores. This is just your generic Asian grind design. It's cheap, easy, mindless, and milks subs.
I'd like to point out that the 1st step can be done within a few hours of hitting 50 and picking up the quest.
Then comes Titan. He himself takes quite some time LOL. Good luck if you're doing it solo and on your way to DF.
Anyways, there has nothing to do hardcores or casuals. There's nothing hard by obtaining the Atma or Animus.
It requires: Patience, Diligence, Dedication, Time , and some snacks.
I only have the last one, because I ain't patient and I wanna do Levi for the cool lookin' book!
You will have alternatives though....I hope... they may give you one for the Novus here in 2.3 or something.
It's a grind, a mindless grind fest. No skills or thought required. ;c
By the time you guys did all this, you'd probably have the High Allagan stuff from
T9. xD Which I believe the Novus is a lesser to it anyway. Seems more fun to me and something
I willing to try my best to get.

I play umpteen bajillion hours per day (or something) and spend most of my time chatting or helping new people in my FC. I am not too big on fighting primals or the RNG monster (when I do farm Atma, within 5 mins my FC chat is filled with "FJIYUPW9HUFJTJRGN!!! WTH IS THISSS OMG MY BRAIN IS DRIBBLING OUT MY EARRRRRS!! MY SOUL JUST LEFT MY BODY!!!! D: ) (My FC finds it amusing to suggest I go work on getting Atma cause I QQ.) Am I casual or not?
I think most of the bad feelings about this comes from the pressure to have only the best gear. We all KNOW the PF is full of "must have blahblah weapon or you can't go" and that anyone we meet in game may say "omg zenith, nooob, uninstall, lol." >< If that pressure wasn't there, would we feel nearly as bad about it taking forev...a while... to get the atma/animus/novus/whatever?

you guys are missing the point, i don't think the problem is the time, top tier weapon should require a lot of time, the problem is the myth grinding, the 90% of the quest is just running the same 3 dungeons hundreds of times to get 60k tomes, getting 13500 for the animus is plain boring but 60k tomes sounds more like a april fools joke, that's just bad design.
