P.S I'm wondering who will really attempts novus quest except hardcores
Actually it's pretty easy on casuals, if anything it's turning away hardcore players. Hardcore players want the stuff asap, then they get burnt out grinding it. A friend of mine in FC is about as casual as they come, and they got their animus sooner than most people I knew who grinded often (simply by doing DR every single day, he didn't grind a single dungeon other than that). If you just take it slow and do a bit a day, you will already be on the next step before the next major patch.

I'm confused by the thread title. Is it good BY casuals or goodbye to casuals? :3

    Or good buy to casuals.

I do not think it's a good buy so I'm not going to put much effort into it. I have my animus and sacrificed a lot of time for very little reward. I'm not doing it for novus since I'm burnt out.

My friend is a casual that don't really do coil 2. He has more chances of getting an i110 weapon with novus than the tomestone or t9 weapons. Your point?

I would care more about boredom than time, a long time quest is a good thing for a MMO, and mindless grind is fraud, because you're paying to be bored.

On the contrary, it is almost very casual compliant.
Casual can't play a long time, they can only play relatively short and irregular sessions.
Beside the Fate camping, you can do everything by short session whenever you want.

You don't need a static to get your stuff done, you can do it "solo" on your own time. You don't need to commit a full night to run a specific raid. You don't need to stay for many hours in front of your computer to have a chance.
Well you have to camp fates but there are no claim system like notorious/named monsters so can just hop in whenever you want if you are lucky.

And don't get me wront here, i'm not saying there is no alternative... i'm strictly speaking about TIME here, the time it will require for everybody will differ and my point is that it's gonna make some ppl (casuals) afraid of this quests because they don't want their upgrade comming in 6 / 12 months,

    THAT is my point

I'm a casual by every definition of the word, but I have no issue with this. I played FFXI casually for years, and always enjoyed it. The relic weapons that you would get from dynamis (if i remember correctly.. I never did any of that stuff) were not something everyone aspired to, but the dedicated few would wind up getting one.. not sure if they've made it any easier since then. I view this as something similar in design, but not quite as grueling. You know, something for people who enjoy that kind of grind/reward that not everyone will have the patience to go for. As long as there's other stuff for me to do, I'll be happy.

I wish people would stop calling these new relics casual. Just because I could maybe get the weapon by 2016 without having to do anything hard doesn't make it casual friendly. As someone who still hasn't gotten a single atma, along with SE piling more ridiculous grind on top, and taking a hard stance of "we're not going to make atma any easier in the foreseeable future", this feels to me like the most elitist weapon in the game. It's only for people with hardcore playtime. It's like not being able to cap soldiery, I'm constantly getting pushed further and further behind everyone else.

Leviathan weapons are the new casual weapon. SE is going to give me free access to the EX fight. They'll probably add echo to the fight before I could reasonably acquire an animus.
