I think the OP thought only collector's edition had access to mounts when he/she bought the game.

In others posts of OP it was already about getting access to mount, so that part was covered

The caveat listed on the CE is:
* Players will be able to ride mounts once they have reached level 20 and have obtained a chocobo.

Since HopeXIV did apparently notice the "once they have reached level 20" part, I'm not quite sure how she would have missed the "and have obtained a chocobo" part that's right there in the same sentence. That indicates right there they have to do the same thing as non-CE players to obtain a chocobo, and obtaining something in an RPG typically means completing a quest, (unless an RNG drop is involved, which luckily it's not in this case).

You get a chocobo the same way as everyone else, just like the CE ad said. Then once you have a chocobo, you can use any mounts you have, including the Couerl and Fat Chocobo that the Collector's Edition provides. It's those two that people without the CE don't get.

I could technically see how it could be confusing since CE owners get the Fat Chocobo. If you're going into the game knowing nothing, it's reasonable to expect them to know nothing about the quest to get your chocobo license. I don't condone the way they brought forth the subject though.
